🌟 🌟 "My color is my joy and not my burden." 🌟 🌟

This quote from Campbell's book, Brothers and Sisters, serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of understanding intersectional identities and how they influence one's experiences in the world. It also underscores the need for culturally informed mental health care, especially in the context of these diverse experiences.

National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month occurs each July and is dedicated to the legacy of Bebe Moore Campbell, a trailblazing author, journalist, and mental health advocate. Campbell used her voice to highlight the mental health struggles of racial and ethnic minorities, addressing the stigma and barriers that prevent many from seeking help. As a co-founder of NAMI Urban Los Angeles, she played a pivotal role in ensuring that communities of color have access to the mental health resources they need.

Let's continue her mission by advocating for equitable mental health care and supporting one another. 💙✨

👉 Share this post to honor Bebe Moore Campbell's legacy and raise awareness about minority mental health. Let's leverage our privilege and platform to increase awareness.

For those of you who have not had the pleasure of hearing Dr. Doug Haldeman speak, I would encourage you to run, not walk, to register for this webinar. He is an absolute delight to listen to and it is truly an honor to hear him talk about his experiences as he has been such a huge part of the right for LGBTQ+ rights in California and abroad. It has been such a pleasure to get to know him over the past few years and to learn from him. I would strongly encourage you to register for this webinar asap! And - if you aren’t already a Division VII: Diversity & Social Justice Division of CPA member - the cost of the membership is cheaper than the webinar! They offer a number of JEDIA webinars that are free throughout the year and have some amazing content that help psychologists meet the DEI requirements in CA.

Let's continue celebrating Pride Month!
