Methylation and Transulferation pathways are critical components of your body's natural detoxification of toxins, heavy metals, pesticides, xeno-estrogens, BPA, and all other free radicals that cause oxidative damage to your cell membranes.
As you can see, B vitamins are a necessary component of these enzymatic pathways, as are the amino acids Methionine, Cysteine, Glutamine, Taurine which are all derived from protein in the diet. Zinc is also a necessary component of Metallothionein (literally meaning "Metal binding sulfur protein") which is your body's main metal regulating and detoxifying agent in your body. 50% of it is made up of Zinc, so if you take too much Zinc, you will cause a heavy metal detoxification reaction, which can cause you nausea, headaches, acne, joint pains, and more, but this is actually a good thing ( in moderation).
You don't want to overstress your adrenals by trying to detoxify too quickly, otherwise you are defeating your goal, since adrenal function regulates your liver's ability to produce all of these anti-oxidants and also your soft tissue's ability to release these toxins from the binding sites which they are currently occupying.
Please comment if you have any questions regarding these vital biochemical processes that your body relies on to keep your body free of the toxins and heavy metals that are ubiquitous in our environment. Especially watch out for unfiltered tap water!! That stuff is dangerous!
