Before starting my ultrasound business, The 3D Baby Co, I was working as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, doing ultrasounds for high-risk pregnancies. After experiencing an injury, I decided to switch my focus to the part of my job that I truly love - showing parents their baby, seeing their joy, and helping them bond! 🤍

If you're pregnant and live in the San Francisco Bay Area, I'd love to share in this special moment with you too! Visit 3dbabyco.com or send me a message me to learn more! 💕

I'd also love to connect with you on TikTok and Instagram () where I share videos on pregnancy and women's health! 📸

When is the best time to book a 3D/4D ultrasound?

These three images are a great example of how timing can influence what we see.

Image 1:
Around 28–30 weeks, we’re often able to capture beautiful full-face images like this one. At this stage babies usually still have enough space and amniotic fluid around the face, which helps create clear 3D ultrasound images 🥰

Image 2:
As pregnancy moves beyond 30 weeks (this image was taken just before 32 weeks), it becomes more common to see structures in front of baby’s face - things like hands, feet, the placenta, or the uterine wall. When this happens, parts of the face can be partially hidden, like we see here 🫣

👀 Can anyone guess what we’re seeing in front of baby’s face in this image?

Image 3:
And then sometimes… even later in the third trimester (this image was taken at 35 weeks) we get lucky and can still get a clear look! We’re seeing a bit of the uterine wall in front of baby’s forehead but are still able to see those sweet facial features 🩷

Every pregnancy is different. Image clarity depends on several factors including:

• Baby’s position
• Amniotic fluid levels around the face
• Placenta location
• Whether baby has hands, feet, or the cord near their face

Because of these variables, the best time to schedule a full 3D/4D session is usually around 28–30 weeks when we have the highest chance of seeing baby’s full face clearly.

That said - if you’re past that window, it’s still absolutely worth trying! Many families still get wonderful images later in pregnancy… we just like to set expectations that visibility can be a little more unpredictable 🤍

This past weekend, I had the privilege of partnering with New Mom School for their grand opening in Los Gatos! 🎉

Congratulations & a big thank you for hosting an amazing event & providing a beautiful space for some pop up ultrasound services! And thank you to all the New Mom School partners who helped keep things organized & running smoothly! 🙏

Thank you to all the moms who came by - it was so fun meeting all of you & giving you ultrasound sneak peeks of your little ones! 🤍

As part of a grand opening raffle giveaway, one lucky mom won a complementary 3D/4D session, which we did this afternoon! How amazing are those lips?! 🥰

🙈 This little one was already working on perfecting those peek-a-boo skills… we sure liked to cuddle up to that arm!

But we were able to use a few tricks to get baby to come out of hiding & show us that sweet face! 🥰

This stubborn little one just did not want to show us the other side of that cute face! During the session, Mom and Dad joked that maybe baby was like Zoolander and couldn’t turn left 😂

Even so, we still managed to capture a sweet glimpse 🥰

This was such a fun session! Mom booked it as a birthday gift for her mom so she could see the little one that will make her a grandma!! 🤍

🥰 How adorable is this?!

At a recent ultrasound session, mom had the cutest idea for a picture! Here’s a proud big brother & big sister posing next to their new sibling! 💕

Big sister did such a good job holding the “magic wand” so carefully! And big brother opted to hold the bubble wrap it comes in, which is a lot more fun than ultrasound gel anyways! Who doesn’t love a good, fresh piece of bubble wrap?! 😂

Including siblings in the ultrasound can be a fun way to bond with the new baby… but the medical scans at the Dr’s office can be long & boring! 😴

An at-home, private ultrasound session is the perfect way to get the rest of the family involved! These 2 played close by during the ultrasound & were free to pop in & check things out as they pleased!

FUN FACT: I did an ultrasound of big brother too!! It was so special meeting him in person & having the chance to visit & catch up with mom while taking more ultrasound pics of the newest family member 🤍

🤰When mom books an appointment to check on position at 38 weeks and baby is in the perfect spot for 3D pictures, you take advantage of it!

At this stage in pregnancy, things are usually too crowded to see baby this clearly… things like uterus, placenta, arms and even legs usually get in the way! But today, we got lucky and the stars aligned! 💫

Here’s some 3D ultrasound images from a previous session! 😍

It’s incredible how much we can see before a baby is even born! In the third trimester, babies often start to develop features that resemble how they’ll look at birth. Some parents notice a resemblance to siblings or even themselves when they were babies! 👶

3D ultrasounds allow you to capture these little details in a way that traditional scans don’t. While the best time for clear images is usually the beginning of the 3rd trimester (I love the 28-29 week mark!) every baby is unique, and positioning as well as placenta position plays a big role in the clarity of the scan.

A good tip? HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! 💦 It makes a big difference! Well-hydrated moms often have more amniotic fluid, which helps create clearer images.

At The 3D Baby Co, we bring this experience to the comfort of your home—no crowded waiting rooms, no rushing you out the door to accommodate the next appointment, just a relaxed setting where you can take your time and enjoy the moment. It’s a chance to bond, share with loved ones, and get a glimpse of your little one before they arrive 🤍

✨2D, 3D, 5D... and AI?! What's the difference?!✨

🤰When booking a private ultrasound, you'll usually have the option to choose between a 2D or 3D session... but as ultrasound technology advances, it allows us to see baby in even more detail which means that you have even more imaging options to choose from! Very exciting but it can also get confusing!

Here are some images from a recent 3D Baby Co session so you can see the difference!🧐

1️⃣ 2D ULTRASOUND >> these are the typical black & white images that we're all familiar with! 2D imaging is great for assessing baby's anatomy... and of course getting that cute profile picture that everyone loves to see!

2️⃣ 3D ULTRASOUND >> unlike traditional 2D ultrasound, which captures a single cross-section of your baby, 3D ultrasound compiles multiple 2D images from different angles to create an image showing the entire surface of your baby's face! A basic 3D image usually has a gold, yellowish-brown, or "sepia" color to it

3️⃣ 5D ULTRASOUND >> sometimes referred to as "HD Live" or "Real View", this is an advanced ultrasound feature that allows us to add depth using light and shadows to give you a more life-like ultrasound picture of baby! These images will be more flesh-toned in color than the standard 3D (pictures 3 & 4 are both 5D images with different lighting)

4️⃣ AI ENHANCED >> often referred to as "8K" & now available to add-on to your 3D/4D session with The 3D Baby Co!🤩

Unlike traditional ultrasound images, which rely solely on sound waves to create a picture, AI-enhanced images use specialized software to add even more depth, smoothness, and further enhance facial details based on baby’s natural anatomy. This gives you an even more lifelike, high-resolution rendering of your little one’s face and an even clearer preview of what your baby might look like at birth!

If you'd like to book your own at-home ultrasound session to get some fun baby pictures like the ones below, please feel free to reach out here or visit the3dbabyco.com for more ways to get in touch! 🤍

Here’s a peek at some 3D pictures from one of today’s sessions! (Mom is in her 32nd week)

This little one liked to snuggle up against that arm, but with some patience and encouraging words from dad, we caught some good photos of the entire face! 🥰

Fun fact: at 32 weeks, we can see babies showing off different facial expressions! During this session, we caught this cutie flashing some smiles!

If you’d like to have your own at-home ultrasound session, please feel free to reach out or share with any pregnant friends! 🤍
