AM radio ruled, since Miles City had no FM stations in the 1960s. At the KATL studios, Kirk Michels and I occasional hosted an hour-long show for the CCHS Speech Club. Bob Gilbert graciously provided technical support. KATL, 1340 on the AM dial, had a broadcast power of 1,000 watts daytime, 250 watts nighttime.

Since KATL signed off at 11 PM (10 PM Sundays), we youngsters would listen to KOMA, a 50,000 watt powerhouse with directional antennas that provided a strong nighttime signal in the western USA. There were very few rock stations in that era. KOMA claims to have originated the โ€œTop 40โ€ format of playing only a limited assortment of hit records. I can still hear voices singing: "Much More Music, K O M A."

๐Ÿ’– Keanu Reeves was abandoned by his father at 3 years old and grew up with 3 different stepfathers. He is dyslexic. His dream of becoming a hockey player was shattered by a serious accident. His daughter died at birth. His wife died in a car accident. His best friend, River Phoenix, died of an overdose. His sister has leukemia.

And with everything that has happened, Keanu Reeves never misses an opportunity to help people in need. When he was filming the movie "The Lake House," he overheard the conversation of two costume assistants; One cried because he would lose his house if he did not pay $20,000 and on the same day Keanu deposited the necessary amount in the woman's bank account; He also donated stratospheric sums to hospitals.
In 2010, on his birthday, Keanu walked into a bakery and bought a brioche with a single candle, ate it in front of the bakery, and offered coffee to people who stopped to talk to him.
After winning astronomical sums for the Matrix trilogy, the actor donated more than $50 million to the staff who handled the costumes and special effects - the true heroes of the trilogy, as he called them.
He also gave a Harley-Davidson to each of the stunt doubles. A total expense of several million dollars. And for many successful films, he has even given up 90% of his salary to allow the production to hire other stars.
In 1997 some paparazzi found him walking one morning in the company of a homeless man in Los Angeles, listening to him and sharing his life for a few hours.
Most stars when they make a charitable gesture they declare it to all the media. He has never claimed to be doing charity, he simply does it as a matter of moral principles and not to look better in the eyes of others.
This man could buy everything, and instead every day he gets up and chooses one thing that cannot be bought: To be a good person.
Keanu Reevesโ€™ father is of Native Hawaiian descent

Billy Mills, also known as Tamakhรณฤhe TheศŸรญla, a member of the Oglala Lakota tribe, has become a symbol of Native American excellence and perseverance.
Born and raised on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota, Mills faced numerous challenges growing up. Poverty, racism, and health issues were constant obstacles. However, he refused to let these hurdles define him. Instead, he worked hard to excel in both academics and athletics.
Mills became a standout athlete in high school and went on to attend the University of Kansas on a track scholarship. Despite facing discrimination and cultural misunderstandings, he persevered and eventually became a two-time NCAA champion.
At the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, Mills was considered a long shot to win the 10,000 meters. He was up against world-record holders and seasoned veterans, but Mills remained focused and determined. In an incredible upset, he surged ahead in the final stretch and crossed the finish line in first place, setting a new Olympic record.
Mills" victory was not just a win for himself, but for his entire community. He became a hero to Native Americans around the country, inspiring them to believe in their own capabilities and pursue their dreams.
In recognition of his accomplishments, Mills has been awarded numerous honors, including induction into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame and the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame. In 2023, he was presented with an Eagle Feather at Lake Andes School, a prestigious honor in Native American culture.
Today, Mills continues to inspire others through his advocacy work and motivational speeches. He reminds us that with hard work, determination, and a strong support system, anyone can overcome adversity and achieve greatness.
