Today, we are sharing our final community story for Cervical Cancer Awareness Month - and this time, it’s about the preventive screening experience.

Mae is a participant of our SELF-CERV nationwide clinical trial. She was visiting the doctor for a cervical cancer screening, which she was overdue for, when she was asked if she would like to participate in the trial for an at-home screening device.

Mae enjoyed the Teal Wand screening experience and was surprised by how easy this process could be. She shared that since becoming a mom and balancing work, it has become increasingly difficult to stay on top of her preventive health screenings. Not to mention, the current screening with the speculum is uncomfortable and often painful for her.

Mae’s story is very relatable and similar to what we hear from many women. They want to stay on top of their health, but when the experience is uncomfortable and challenging to fit into your schedule, it often gets pushed aside.

With the Teal Wand at-home cervical cancer screening kit, we are addressing these all-too-common obstacles and giving women a screening option that is accurate, comfortable, and convenient.

Today we celebrate National Women’s Health Research Day!

Did you know, it wasn’t until 1993 that women were required to be included in clinical trials? And, as of 2016, scientists are required to include s*x as a biological variable in biomedical research.

What does that mean? When carrying out biomedical research, scientists need to include both females and males in their studies. They are required to study how diseases, symptoms, and treatments impact women as well as men.

How does this help? Many diseases affect people differently, and these effects can be based on s*x/gender. Inclusive research means that medical concerns can be diagnosed more accurately and solutions can be more effective, for both women and men.

At Teal, we know including women in clinical trials and taking their experiences seriously has *real* impact. It’s at the heart of everything we do.

We are honored to share a glimpse of Aisha’s cervical cancer survivor story and encourage you to read the full story through our link in bio.

Thankfully, today, Aisha has been in remission for 7+ years, but she had to fight to care for herself and her children as she underwent years of treatment. What’s more, when it was revealed her cancer had metastasized, she had to fight to be treated when her first provider suggested she instead make the most of her last 3 “good months” with her children.

However, Aisha decided she was going to persist. She got second opinions on treatment paths, asked questions, and really listened to her body. Today, she is a strong supporter of advocating for your health and destigmatizing HPV. We couldn’t agree more.

BIG NEWS! We are thrilled to announce we have raised $10M from the BEST investors - all of which are passionate about women’s health, cancer prevention, innovative healthcare solutions, and health equity.

We have reached $23M in fundraising, completed a nationwide clinical trial, received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation, was granted a $1.6M SBIR grant, submitted the Teal Wand for FDA review, and now we have the capital to help us deliver our at-home cervical cancer screening, once approved.

robelle_) for sharing her mother’s story. This will be the first of a series of stories we will be sharing this Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.

Robelle’s mother’s story is all too familiar. Mothers are busy and often put their children’s needs in front of theirs.

Robelle has generously shared about her mother’s battle with cervical cancer, which took her life at the young age of 47. At the age of 20, Robelle became a caregiver to her younger sister and dedicated time to understanding preventive women’s health practices – lessons that have shaped how she approaches her healthcare today.

1. Completed our SELF-CERV nationwide clinical trial in record speed and exceeded enrollment estimates.
2. The Teal Wand was granted FDA Breakthrough Device Designation putting it on an accelerated path to market.
3. Announced FDA submission of the Teal Wand™ at the HLTH conference and shared report showing 94% of trial participants prefer at-home cervical cancer screening
4. Awarded $1.68M SBIR grant from the National Cancer Institute
