"Sheltering in the Garden"
A Performance Project
created by Shelley Cook-Contreras, in collaboration with dancers, movers, musicians and Butoh performers in the Bay Area, at the Bayview Winery Studio and Gardens.

Dancers, movers, performers! Please come and "Shelter in the Garden". The garden breathes a balnce of life and impermanence... connecting us to what is truely essential... One by one, over several weeks you are invited to come, spend time in solitude with Creation, in our magical Thousand Flower Garden. Come create a new piece, or perform the piece you developed in our class this winter, now surounded by the 120-year-old refuge of the garden. Your audience will be my HD video camera, and will be shown in a specially created Virtual Garden on Vimeo, to be shared with the public. Past participants as well as extended community are invited to perform. Please contact me directly as to the day or night you wish to perform.Ample time will be arranged for your process and set-up, always respecting the need for safe physical distances. I will also host a series of Zoom meet-ups to discuss the project, and later to share questions and responses with the artists, in the manner of our FullCircle Butoh Training. I have missed you, each and every one, and hope to hear from you soon.

The garden breathes...aaahhh...
inviting us to take refuge, take heart,
in solitude, getting to the root,
and grow in the garden of your art.

In support of the creative good, Blessings, Shelley cook-Contreras
