In August 2025, Jim Milsap was riding in a vehicle approaching the City of McKinney, Texas - Unique by Nature, TX, when he slumped over, unresponsive. His son pulled over, dragged his father from the car, and flagged down a bystander to call 911.

What happened next was not a matter of luck. It was the direct result of a decision the McKinney Police Department had made just months earlier: placing Avive Connect AEDs in every patrol vehicle and ensuring all officers were trained in CPR and AED use.

We built the Avive Connect AED because the survival rate for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest hadn't meaningfully improved in decades - and we knew a smarter, more connected device could change that. Our 4 Minute Community™ Program integrates directly with 911 to alert nearby trained community members, dispatching them to the scene before an ambulance arrives.

We've already seen this program save lives - and reliable partners like Sandisk help make that possible by providing the industrial-grade storage our devices need to perform flawlessly every time.

The 4 Minute Community™ model is Avive’s approach to improving cardiac arrest survival by turning the first critical minutes into a coordinated, community-driven response. Instead of relying solely on ambulances, the model connects 911 dispatch, nearby trained citizens, and connected AED devices...

In August 2025, 66-year-old Jim Milsap's heart stopped without warning while riding in a vehicle near the City of McKinney, Texas - Unique by Nature. The odds were not in his favor - but McKinney Police Department Officers Zac Hamilton and Sgt. Farrell Richie arrived first. And they were ready.

Every McKinney patrol vehicle had been equipped with an Avive Connect AED®. When seconds mattered most, they didn't have to wait for EMS to get started - they acted. Jim was defibrillated seven times, and he survived. This is what community-level preparedness looks like.

Midlands Technical College's Police Department has outfitted all 15 patrol cars with Avive Connect AEDs, giving every officer the tools and training needed to respond to cardiac emergencies. MTC chose Avive for its built-in connectivity, which automatically alerts 911 upon deployment and transmits real-time incident data to EMS and hospital teams - improving continuity of care from the first moments of response.

This rollout builds on MTC's existing safety infrastructure, which includes more than 45 AEDs across campus and emergency call boxes at key locations. We're proud to uplift their ongoing commitment to the health and safety for students, staff, and the broader community.

MTCPD has installed 15 Avive Connect AEDs across all patrol vehicles, giving officers real-time 911 connectivity and the tools to respond to cardiac emergencies before EMS arrives.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro signed Greg Moyer's Law: requiring AEDs to be available at all PA Interscholastic Athletic Association-sanctioned athletic events and practices, and mandating that schools develop emergency action plans for cardiac emergencies. The law is named after Greg Moyer, a high schooler who died from sudden cardiac arrest during a basketball game, whose family was told an AED on-site could have saved his life.

Starting in 2029, all school employees and volunteers must receive CPR and AED training at least every two years. We applaud this critical step in Pennsylvania toward ensuring student athletes have a fighting chance when every second counts.

The legislation also will require schools to have automated external defribrillators (AEDS) develop and rehearse emergency action plans for cardiac incidents.

Shout-out to Tevin Craft, who will be running in this year's Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race carrying an Avive Connect AED! As the world's largest 10K, this is a landmark moment for cardiac safety - Avive is proud to partner with the event by equipping 50 volunteer runners with Avive AEDs who will be running in each wave with the devices, keeping every participant safer mile by mile.

Stay tuned for more updates as we head into the 4th of July weekend!

For Northside Hospital Peachtree Road Race participant Tevin Craft, what started as a spontaneous challenge with his cousin has grown into a meaningful family tradition rooted in fitness, connection and celebration.

The Fairfax County Police Department has launched a new patrol AED program, equipping officers with Avive Connect AEDs to improve response to cardiac emergencies across the community. Each district police station will receive five Avive AEDs distributed across patrol shifts, with dispatch centers using real-time tracking to route the nearest equipped officer to any cardiac emergency.

We are thrilled to support FCPD's commitment to saving lives by placing advanced, connected defibrillation technology directly in the hands of first responders. Read more:

Ottawa University (Kansas) had an outdated AED program that lacked modern tools for maintenance, accountability, and assurance of student safety.

Their Director of Campus Safety and Dean of Student Life collaborated to replace their system with 25 Avive Connect AED®s strategically placed across campus - protecting more than 900 students, faculty, staff, and visitors each day.

Both leaders appreciate the Avive AED’s reliability, intuitive design, and universal pads, which simplify emergency response and enhance overall readiness. Case study: https://www.avive.life/customer-stories/ottawa-university
