A little reminder when the days get tough.

Reflecting on 2024 and what has resurfaced as the most important lesson: Intentionality. Being aware and genuine, especially when it comes to those I love and my own self-healing cannot be put on the back burner any longer.

May 2025 and beyond bring you much peace, love, abundance, gratitude, healing, and intentional awareness. What a joy it is to wake up everyday!

Are you feeling overwhelmed, overstimulated, overworked, sad, panicked, or exhausted?

PAUSE.
Breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds.
Hold for 2 seconds.
Breathe out slowly through your mouth for 8 seconds.
Repeat 5 times.

Notice any shift in your body, mood, thoughts. Sometimes we need a pause to remember that we are ok. Deep breathing is an amazing coping skill to help calm our nervous system and make better decisions.

We are not our diagnoses. Negative thoughts and self-talk creates a false narrative of who we believe ourselves to be. I encourage you to use the statement “I am a healthy person in a season of _______ (symptom you are experiencing)”.

I had a moment where I had to remind myself that “I am a healthy woman in a season of anxiety” so that my ruminating thoughts would not consume me. I use this skill with my clients to help them combat their depressive, anxious, grief, obsessive, stress, and many other negative symptoms.

As a EMDR therapist, I am just a guide. You have everything within yourself to heal yourself; what does that mean? Our brain has a natural healing my component and sometimes our stressful and traumatic experiences get stuck in our brains and causes dysfunction. With EMDR, you are reprocessing these events so that you can function in the world in a more healthy way where your anxious, depressive, overwhelming, and any negative symptoms aren’t triggers for you in present day.

Sometimes we can be in a cycle where we aren’t aware of how we’re feeling, what’s going on around us, or just zoned out and “doing”. Almost like a robot. It’s called auto pilot and it’s more common than you think! Especially for us busy mamas with so much on our plate 😅 life can feel a blur at times.

Try this mindfulness challenge to help ground and make you present: Stepping out of Autopilot - In the next week, notice when you have been operating on autopilot. Pause & take a few breaths. Now ask yourself, is there anything you are avoiding by being in lalaland and on autopilot? You may occasionally have realizations or discoveries.
