Nestled in a quiet San Francisco neighborhood, AlmaVia of San Francisco is located in close proximity to St. Mary's Hospital, medical offices and Stonestown Shopping Center, and is directly adjacent to the St. We provide assisted living and memory care. Our beautiful campus boasts amenities from an onsite beauty salon and private spa, to a stately library and a crackling fireplace in our cozy living room. Our programs are designed to assist older adults with care and services that enable them to remain as independent as possible, stay connected to a loving, compassionate community and celebrate the joys that life brings to us at all ages.

A few residents shared heartfelt birthday wishes, while her sister Carolyn treated everyone to Susie’s cupcakes, perfectly paired with coffee, hot tea, and hot cocoa—a sweet delight for a cold, crisp afternoon.

The holiday spirit arrived in complete harmony last week when the Cable Car Carolers stopped by for a festive performance. Presented by the Institute on Aging, this special visit filled the community with the sounds of the season.

There's a reason music holds such a special place in our hearts, especially during the holidays. For older adults, live performances like this can boost mood, spark cherished memories, and create a sense of togetherness that warms the soul. Singing along—even just tapping a toe to the beat—engages the mind and lifts the spirit in ways few other activities can. It's a joy you can feel in the room!

Residents and staff at AlmaVia of San Francisco recently had the pleasure of welcoming Skylar and Sara from The San Francisco SPCA, along with their very special four-legged companion! 🐶💕🐾

This sweet, gentle pup captured hearts the moment he walked through the door—and not just because of his calm and loving personality. Residents couldn't stop talking about his unique breed and absolutely unforgettable hairstyle. Let's just say he came ready for his close-up, and he did not disappoint!

Spending time with therapy animals has been shown to reduce stress, lift spirits, and spark conversation and connection among neighbors.

After a delicious Thanksgiving lunch, some AlmaVia of San Francisco residents settled in for a little creative relaxation—coloring festive holiday pictures while letting all that good food digest! 🖍️🦃🥧💕

As they worked on their individual art pieces, everyone took turns sharing their wishes and gratitude for the season. Peggy summed it up perfectly: "I wish everyone good health and that everyone enjoyed all the food we had today."

Activities like coloring help with focus, encourage relaxation, and provide a gentle creative outlet that's both calming and satisfying. These shared moments remind us that the simplest activities often bring the greatest rewards—especially when done together.

A very special visitor at AlmaVia of San Francisco. 👶💕

Sometimes the best moments are the ones you don't see coming. Gardens memory care neighborhood resident Kathleen N. got a wonderful surprise when her granddaughter, Fiona, stopped by. At just six months old, little Fiona had the whole community wrapped around her tiny finger. As Kathleen put it, "She's so adorable!"

Time spent with young children can boost mood, spark joy, and create a sense of purpose and connection that enriches daily life. This week, the community celebrated the brave souls who've served our country. The Veterans Day celebration brought the community out, including Edward R., a resident veteran of the Bridgehaven neighborhood.

The event also included heartfelt speeches, delicious food and drinks, and a special recognition ceremony. Each veteran received a certificate and gifts as a small token of deep appreciation for their unwavering service. 🎖️

Bridgehaven memory care residents just wrapped up an amazing session of Soulful Stretch with Karuna. Gentle movements, mindful breathing, and soothing guidance created the perfect recipe for relaxation and inner peace.

Activities like Soulful Stretch offer real, tangible benefits for older adults. Regular gentle movement supports better flexibility and balance, which in turn leads to increased confidence when getting around. Mindful breathing and restorative practices help ease stress and promote better sleep. Additionally, there's something truly healing about moving your body with intention and community by your side. 🎃 Halloween at AlmaVia of San Francisco was extra special this year. 🎃 👻 🎉🧡

Patricia B. was grateful to be surrounded by her loving family, who went all out with fun wigs to celebrate the spooky holiday together.

Family visits, especially during holidays, provide incredible emotional and mental health benefits for residents. When loved ones make the effort to celebrate together, it strengthens family bonds while giving residents something wonderful to look forward to and to reminisce about afterward.

🎃 The sweetest Halloween surprise arrived at AlmaVia of San Francisco courtesy of the amazing Perfect Pair Volunteer Team from SF State University! 👻✨🎃🍫🎁

These wonderful students came together to assemble the most delightful spooky baskets for residents, and the thoughtfulness behind each one was heartwarming. Every basket was carefully packed with Halloween mugs, cozy socks, soft blankets, and of course, plenty of chocolate. The residents were thrilled to receive such a considerate gift!

The Perfect Pair program continues to show everyone what true community partnership looks like - it's not just about scheduled visits, it's about creating moments of genuine care and connection. Thank you so much to the whole team!
