Peaceful Warrior (Foundation series)
Day 152 Facing hard issues is the path the peaceful warrior insists on taking. Breaking through the fears to find a common heart of humanity is the way the peaceful lives her/his/their life.
I tell the story 3 years ago in Bali Donny and I met a Trump supporter at a gathering held for our teacher . Also present was a young man (sitting at the table with us) who was living vibrantly an autistic journey. He was very child like and often blurted out whatever came to his mind. He clearly had intuitive abilities to read energy better than all the healers gathered. For a year I had wanted to talk to a Trump supporter about why. Our agreement was to have a conversation that allowed us to listen and be in our hearts. At one point the autistic young man stopped us putting his hand over his heart and said "you are not in your heart" as we spoke to each other about the difficult issues of Trumps policies. That moment of talking to someone I so strongly disagreed with,I learned became a lesson for the future. Stop speaking when I no longer am hearing but reacting. Stop and connect to my heart as the boy had pointed out is now a guide because I experienced it in my body.
Todays news ..As a nurse becomes a whisle blower speaking out about an ICE Detention Center giving unwanted hysterectomies to women and negligent operations and bad treatments of refugees are being reported I muse on what is going to get us through these human issues that are used to divide us and often lead to violence?
So,The sacredness of life ... All life. Can Pro Life and Pro Choice become a bridge rather than a divide? There are so many important conversations that need to happen to heal ourselves and this country but they require a willingness to listen deeply beyond political and religious talking points rigged embedded in us.
As a healer Donny and I have worked with women who had abortions and miscarriages,I have worked with people about the right to die during the AIDS epidemic,I also worked with military folks who have killed others in war and even one man who while in Vietnan put his gun down when he made eye contact wth the vietcong he was about to shoot.
When a soul comes into a body and when that energy leaves a body is a mystery that folks want to have "right answers" for . I've been around both experiences and it's clear the soul's journey is unique and has some purpose or some work of completion to do.. How someone comes in or when someone leaves the body.
When I wrote my dissertation about gay men's psychological health I found that in the 1940's when q***r golf were considered "sick' diagnostically the basis for that finding was research done on men in prison. Think about men in prison being the subject sample. Thus treatments of abuse like "Coercion therapy" still pedaled by those who wish to see gay/q***r people as sick in need of repair wascseen as a treatment. Of course as years of massive studies of gay/q***r folk that followed showed gay/q***r folk are no more or less pathological than all people of every orientation.
How we see each other is the key to healing our world. Other or fellow human being who is ...........whatever demographic.
A challenge for us all...Who are people in your life. Do they all look like you or is diverse in race, genders, orientations, beliefs, backgrounds, abilities, economic status relation status, age, wellness status etc. One of our friends and teacher Andrew a gay Jewish man decided one year he would go every week to worship with a group of people from faith traditions different that his.
We may never find the same "answers" or conclusions but when we listen from the heart our adversary has the potential of becoming someone connected in care.
The Quakers have a saying "No one I'm enemy, just friends"
My praying today is we be peaceful warriors as we are all challenged to step out of out of a "war room" model to create a "heart room model"
Love you all
