See Well to Learn & Prevent Blindness Northern California

See Well to Learn & Prevent Blindness Northern California A program of Prevent Blindness Northern California, See Well to Learn™ was established in 2012 to

The See Well to Learn™ Eye Bus program is the only program in Northern California to employ an innovative, school‐based approach to accurately detect vision problems among low-income preschoolers, at no cost to the students. We want to ensure that these children receive the care they need for vision correction so they can enter Kindergarten ready to learn. While the program has 6 major components, the design of the Eye Bus is a whimsical way to introduce the importance of vision care to students. Children are excited to see the Eye Bus pull up and are curious to learn more about what happens inside. While we need the community to support our vision care efforts, it’s important that the children themselves are also excited to learn about taking care of their vision.

Happy Monday!

Tip #6 of our Encouraging Glasses Wear series! Reward your child for wearing their glasses. If your child enjoys going to the park, then help them wear their glasses every day. At the end of the week, they can take a special trip to their favorite playground!

Tip # 5 of our Encouraging Glasses Wear series!

Caregivers, compliment your children when they are wearing their glasses. Children can feel if you are not happy about their glasses. They will feel comfortable in glasses if you tell them they look great!

Tip #4 of our Encouraging Glasses Wear series!

Taking pictures of your child in their glasses will help them feel confident and special. Caregivers, show your child pictures of people in glasses, like sports figures and actors. Teachers, post pictures of people and children with glasses in your classrooms. This will all help normalize glasses wear.
