Here’s my latest WIP 😎 lol I only learned recently that stands for Work In Progress 😂 roses are something I definitely want to perfect. I’ve been doing wellness coaching calls most of the day but cannot WAIT to sit down to work on the leaves of this painting tonight. Any other artists get the creative itch once you start and just can’t stop?? I’m sure I’ll be tweaking this one for several more hours before I call it done 😄

If you know me, you know I’m obsessed with the Northern Lights and Northern Lights Black Spruce essential oil. This oil is harvested from beautiful spruce trees grown on young living’s farm in British Columbia, Canada, where the northern lights shine bright. These trees withstand severe wind and cold, and remind us to stay calm, strong, and grounded even in the midst of chaos. The aroma is magical - honestly it smells like a heavenly forest. I have used this oil to promote courage and confidence in my most anxious moments. I love using it during meditation, breathwork, and prayer. This painting felt like it took five years to finish 😂 I got kinda carried away, but what can I say - I’m obsessed with this essential oil blend!! Geranium, Blue Tansy, Frankincense, Camphor, and Black Spruce combine to create Valor essential oil by . This blend is my GO TO oil in times of anxiety, when I need more confidence and courage. It grounds me, uplifts my spirits, and helps me believe I can do whatever I set my mind to. I apply it to my wrists, neck, or palms and take several deep breaths. Have you ever tried it? Okay here’s my third and final prompt for the save the bee’s challenge 🐝 the prompt was to illustrate other pollinators aside from bees 😍 did you know Monarch Butterflies are very essential pollinators? After reading more about them, I’m amazed at what incredible creatures they are! Now I want to paint all the butterflies 🦋

Happy World Bee Day friends! Because I’m still working on my final prompt for the Save the Bee’s Challenge, I thought I’d share an old painting of eucalyptus with you today. This was just a quick painting but I loved doing it! I’m addicted to all the blues and greens found in eucalyptus; and love making my pieces really saturated and detailed. Although I’d love to play around with a looser style one of these days 😍 What’s your favorite style of painting?

Rose, ylang ylang, roman chamomile, jasmine, palmarosa, geranium, coriander, and citrus leaves to represent lemon, bergamot, and tangerine. These essential oils combine to make a beautiful blend called Joy by 🌸 Each of the plants have powerfully uplifting capabilities, especially when concentrated down into pure essential oils. Just one drop goes a looong way ✨ I love to put this in my diffuser to shift the energy of the room, or apply a drop over the liver where anger is stored. Have you tried Joy? Copaiba 😍 I love this plant & essential oil sooo much. One of its key constituents is called beta-caryophyllene, which is also found in cannabis and a few other medicinal herbs. It’s very relaxing, reduces inflammation, and is also very cleansing and good for skin health 😍 so naturally copaiba essential oil is one I have to have on hand at all times. Have you ever tried it? What’s your favorite way to use it?⠀

The American Bumblebee became endangered in 2017 😢 I’ve always wanted to paint it, and the gave me the perfect opportunity 🐝 It’s pictured here in a little lavender wreath. This made me realize how much I loove painting detailed insects. I’m looking forward to the final and third prompt of our challenge: other pollinators aside from bees 🤗 And very thankful to be hosting this challenge with my friends .art and . In honor of the Save The Bees Art Challenge, let’s talk about lavender for a little bit ✨⠀

Lavender attracts bees like a magnet; this fragrant plant has both pollen and nectar to feed the bees. It also blooms during a midsummer gap when bees are usually the hungriest but have fewer pickings. Lavender is also very productive, and pretty affordable to grow, so I highly recommend it!⠀

Aside from being amazing for the bees, this plant has a variety of benefits, especially when distilled as a pure essential oil. It can help improve sleep, relax muscles, support skin health and hair growth, promote healing for burns & irritations, creates a calming environment, and so much more. ⠀

Eucalyptus, Lemon, Cinnamon, Clove, and Rosemary make up this bouquet painting I did last year. These plants are so very powerful in supporting respiratory and immune function ✨ When concentrated and harnessed into pure essential oils, they help fight against infection, bacteria, and viruses. They are so cleansing, purifying, and smell incredible 😍⠀

I love to use this blend to clean my home, boost my immune system, and in the diffuser to make my house smell like Christmas. Lately, I pretty much keep a bottle on hand at all times 🙌🏼

I finally finished the first prompt for the ☺️ The cosmos flower is one of the very best for the bees! They thrive in many regions and are among the easiest flowers to grow from seeds. Plus, they are also generous re-seeders! I think they are incredibly gorgeous 🌸 there are so many beautiful colors and varieties. ⠀

A Story of Healing

Hey there! My name is Callan, and I've been an artist for as long as I can remember. I started watercolor painting in high school, after taking lessons, and have been obsessed with it ever since. After utilizing plant based medicine to overcome some serious neurological health concerns, I have a newfound respect for Mother Earth and the healing modalities she provides. For this reason, I'm very passionate about painting the plants have continued to bring an abundance of freedom into my life. To me, each painting is an opportunity to tell a story of beauty and healing. It is an honor to not only share my paintings, but my story with the world around me.

Though I went to college for interior design, I always knew my love of watercolor would be there waiting for me. Currently, I work at a design firm in Charlotte, NC, called Vision Builders & Design, where we specialize in designing restaurant and dining facilities. In my free time, I pursue my two passions of watercolor painting and holistic wellness through the use of essential oils. Thank you for being here and supporting my dream!
