Mental health is crucial to getting through day-to-day life. Our Reclaiming Wellness series is just one example of the way Rafiki promotes healing in our community.

We are here as a health and wellness resource for our community and we offer a variety of services, classes, and events to help people take better care of themselves, so they can live better lives.

Rafiki Coalition has done this work for 40 years and testimonies like this exemplify why we do the work that we do. We are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of San Francisco’s Black community.

Black Maternal Health Week is a time to uplift community solutions and demand better outcomes for Black families.

Right now, at City Hall, there is a rally and panel discussion bringing together community leaders, advocates, and policymakers to address Black maternal health disparities and uplift community-rooted care, including our executive director, Shanell Williams.

Today, we come together to build systems that are rooted in community and protected by policy.

We’ve got some great events happening throughout the rest of the month!

This week, we’re hosting the African American Community Health Equity Council (AACHEC) Relaunch. This event provides community members with the opportunity to let their voices be heard. We’ll collaborate through working sessions and a community design sprint to identify priority problems, shape solutions, and define what Black health equity must look like in San Francisco right now.

At the end of the month, our Park Prescriptions For Seniors program begins. This is an opportunity for seniors to consistently get active and spend time outdoors.

We’ve got some great wellness classes for you as well including line dancing class and our final restorative yoga session, as well as a wellness group for moms. We’ll be at Heron’s Head Park for the EcoCenter’s 16th Anniversary & Earth Month Celebration.

Finally, don’t forget to register for our community market, so you or a loved one in the Bayview can get free groceries.

Comment “Events” followed by the names of the event(s) you’re interested in and we’ll share the registration links or registration email.

This week is the African American Community Health Equity Council (AACHEC) Relaunch.

With large city and DPH budget cuts looming, there is an urgent need to highlight Black health equity.

We are coming together now to ensure that the health of Black people remains a priority in every budget cycle.

This relaunch is our opportunity to build the Black-led united front and strategy necessary to push back on these cuts. By aligning our demands and leveraging our collective strength, we can ensure that our voices are heard at the upcoming Board of Supervisors hearing in May.

Your participation is the key to turning this vision into a reality.

We are so grateful that, through our Cooking Matters classes with , we’ve been able to share the joys of cooking with so many kids to give them the ability to cook nutrious meals, learn valuable life skills, and have fun while doing it. Not to mention getting to enjoy eating their delicious, nutritious creations!

This is just one of the many ways we give back to our community.

Rafiki Coalition cordially invites you to the African American Community Health Equity Council Relaunch.

The timing of this relaunch is a matter of necessity. With large city and DPH budget cuts looming, we are facing an urgent threat to the progress we have made in Black health equity.

These impending reductions often signal a shift away from the long-term prevention and wellness programs that allow our community to thrive, focusing instead on short-term crisis response.

We are coming together now to ensure that Black babies, families, and elders remain a priority in every budget cycle. By aligning our strategy now, we can protect the investments that matter most before the next budget is finalized.

This relaunch is our opportunity to build the Black-led united front necessary to push back on these cuts. By aligning our demands and leveraging our collective strength, we can ensure that our voices are heard at the upcoming Board of Supervisors hearing in May. Your participation is the key to turning this vision into a protected reality for all of San Francisco.

Rafiki Coalition was founded 40 years ago by a small, but mighty group of people who sought to support the people in their community. While our services and offerings have evolved over the years, one thing that’s never changed is our commitment to whole person care and making sure that every person we interact with gets the support they need.

This is what Rafiki is all about: healing, joy, and community building. This powerful story touches our hearts and we’re so grateful that this wonderful woman was able to attend our event on such an important day and have a great experience.

Reset Saturday is tomorrow! You do not want to miss this amazing event dedicated to supporting perinatal mothers (moms who are pregnant or have children up to three years old) and the community supporting them and their children!

We’ve got a variety of activities and vendors that provide fun for the whole family! In the morning, we’ll have an opening ceremony with Queen Imïnah and the whole family can invest in self-care by signing up for massage, acupuncture, and chiropractic services provided by Transitions for Wellness.

Attendees can also test their basketball skills at the Hoopbus, enjoy learning more about parenthood at a parent education session, take some family photos at the Pop Life Photobooth, get a haircut from Tyrell Da Barber at the Fatherhood Lounge, and let their kids enjoy fun activities with Sierra Salome at Kuumba Corner!

Hip Hop For The Future and Khafre Jay will be providing the music and entertainment to keep the good vibes going all day long and Little Skillet is providing a delicious lunch for everyone.

We also want to give a shoutout to our community partners for making this possible: Magic Toothbus, Homeless Children’s Network, SisterWeb, San Francisco Department of Public Health – Youth Programs and Services, San Francisco City EMT, and San Francisco Recreation & Parks.

We hope you’ll join us for this wonderful community event dedicated to perinatal mothers and their families. Gift cards will be given to the first fifty perinatal moms in attendance.

Comment “Reset” and we’ll DM you the registration link or just click the link in bio!
