Psychoanalyst

Individual Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy Greetings! Finding the right therapist or analyst can be the first step in that process.

Individual psychoanalysis and psychotherapy offer an opportunity to create lasting change. As a licensed psychotherapist and a psychoanalytic candidate, my work is about helping clients; whether it is a problem to be solved, a desired behavioral change, or finding meaning during a life challenging experience. I truly believe a therapeutic relationship can assist in creating these changes, offer a deeper sense of personal understanding and promote sense of healing . It takes tremendous courage and a sense of willingness to explore these levels of change. I encourage prospective patients to contact me, ask questions and let us consider what that work might look like together. I am here to help.

When I first started therapy, every time I heard the words "inner child" I wanted to puke. First of all, the only memories I have from my childhood aren't really memories. They are home videos. I have no idea how I felt as a child, and I certainly didn't care to do so. I wanted to put all of that in...

Why "the couch" may be just what some patients need.

Self-care is not an indulgence. It's the ongoing practice of keeping ourselves physically and emotionally healthy.

Bruce Levin MD describes how psychoanalytically trained psychotherapists listen and respond to patients in a very specialized way that seeks to create change in patients that are structural versus merely descriptive. Nice read.

A personal favorite of mine, McWilliams offers some elucidating comments on the praxis of the therapeutic relationship, the need for clinical curiosity with our patients and the commodification of the mental health field. Having met her once, I enjoyed her warm style and her thoughtful contributions to the field.

Dr. Nancy McWilliams, world-renowned psychodynamic diagnostician and psychotherapist, talks to New Therapist (http://www.newtherapist.com) about some of the ...
