Excessively stretched muscles cause microtears causing inflammation, which leads to adhesion formation. This weblike material limits your range of motion and can lead to injury.
A great example is those with rounded shoulders or poor postural control. The back muscles are constantly stretched in a flexed forward position. This leaves their mid-back tight with little thoracic mobility and puts the rotator cuff muscles in a more compromised position.
Though there are many corrective changes that need to be done, one can start with: 1) Foam rolling the mid-back to help with mobility. This helps put the body in extension and open up the rib cage.
2) Buy a posture necklace to help improve your alignment and create better movement patterns.
Make an appointment to learn what corrective changes you can make to prevent future injury.
