THANK YOU! Our sweet Bubba was rescued by Dogwood Animal Rescue Project and comes from a puppy mill in Ohio. She was on her way to be euthanized when Dog Wood stepped in to rescue her and other puppy Mill breeding mamas. Please please please, people stop supporting puppy mills! These mamas live terrible lives so that you can have a “perfect pure puppy” it’s sick and sad.
They have arrived in Ohio ❤️
Our drivers Ajay and April (and little road dog Chili) have arrived in Ohio. The day will be spent getting the dogs vet checked, vaccinated and loaded up. Once everyone is loaded they will be heading back for beautiful new lives in California.
Thank you to our drivers, our veterinary partners, our friends at Heart of Michigan Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue and other rescue angels on that end. Also to NorCal Bernese Mountain Dog Rescue who will be helping taking some of the Berners. So many people behind the scenes to help these dogs.
The dogs are used up or downsized puppy mill breeders and in many cases have never seen a vet or been touched by a stranger in their lives. Many of them have rarely been touched at all, and then only in the context of placing pairs together for breeding. They are bernese mountain dogs, goldendoodles, mini goldendoodles, bernerdoodles, poodles and mini bernerdoodles. They range in age from approximately 3-6 years old and 30-80 pounds. They range in behavior from terrified to social.
Please please stop supporting puppy mills. If you buy a puppy online, without ever meeting mom, being grilled at length by the breeder, and seeing where the pup was raised, it’s probably a puppy mill. Don’t fall for those slick ads showing cute fluffy puppies and with a link to pay by credit card. Puppy mills are big money and they are skilled at saying all the right things to make you buy. Sure the pups are cute, but mama and daddy are living a life of hell in a cold dark barn and when their breeding days are over they are disposable.
We are not accepting applications until these dogs are in our care and have been named. At that time we encourage you to submit your application and list up to two interests.
Making a difference one animal at a time.
