Contact Improvisation Class + Jam

Join us for an evening of movement, music, and community. The night begins with a guided class from 8:00–9:00pm with Cathie Caraker, followed by an open jam from 9:00–10:30pm with live music by Daniel Berkman. The evening will be hosted by Merrick Jacob.
In class we’ll explore themes of weight-sharing, counterbalancing, signaling, and listening, then carry these discoveries into an open jam. Come for the full evening or drop in for the jam.
All levels are welcome, from first time participants to experienced movers.

A guided pre-jam class will be from 8:00 - 9:00p and then will flow directly into a jam until 10:30p.

In class, we’ll explore themes of weight-sharing, counterbalancing, signaling, listening, and everything in-between. The jam that follows is an opportunity to continue researching your movement & relational curiosities that sparked from class. First-timers and experienced dancers are all very welcome!

Teacher & Host - Merrick Jacob is a lover of movement, continuously in awe of the body and its potential for delightful expression, wild creativity, & authentic connection. Influenced by her practices of contact improvisation, figure skating, acroyoga, and hand-balancing, she guides playful movement experiences as an opportunity for deep listening, research, and co-creation. Merrick hosts contact across the SF Bay Area.

Musician - Cassian Rose is an Oakland-based musician and sound artist. His work is highly improvisational with classical, jazz, rock, and experimental roots. He creates acoustic-electric performances, creating lush textural soundscapes that blend violin and vocals with live looping and audio processing effects.

Psychedelic Breathwork

This 90-minute class offers a safe space to slow down and connect with the breath as a tool for nervous system regulation. Through a guided breathing sequence led by longtime meditation practitioner , we’ll shift awareness from mental chatter to the body’s subtle intelligence.
Expect gentle movement, deep breathwork, rest, and optional sharing over snacks. No substances involved. Just you, your breath, and 26 trillion oxygen-loving cells.

Still Waters: A Tibetan Bowl Sound Bath

You’re invited to a meditative journey through the practice of Nāda Yoga—the yoga of sound. In this sound bath, the resonant tones of Tibetan singing bowls are offered as a way to return to stillness, presence, and inner attunement.

The bowls will be played and also gently placed on the body, allowing the vibrations to move through the physical and energetic layers. A limited number of spots are available to support spaciousness and individual attention.
