is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of hearing loss and tinnitus among musicians and music fans through education and grassroots advocacy. With support from the music industry, medical industry, foundations and individual donors, H.E.A.R. is helping to raise awareness of the real dangers of repeated exposure to excessive noise levels from music. Partners program is a national

network of hearing professionals and music industry professionals who support H.E.A.R.’s mission. H.E.A.R. delivers information on hearing loss and tinnitus, provides hearing referrals, distributes hearing protection to thousands of people at music events, schools and music camps and launches public service hearing loss prevention campaigns and hearing education programs. H.E.A.R.’s mission is to educate the public with respect to hearing preservation and enhancement and to provide services which protect and enhance hearing. Such education and services include, but are not limited to, educating and supporting (1) hearing protection, (2) hearing screening programs. 3) access to and use of applicable technology by those with hearing disabilities, (4) facilitation of access to community hearing-related resources, and (5) development and implementation of educational materials relating to the above areas.

We are honored to celebrate the life of Les Paul. The Les Paul Foundation has been a constant influencer and supporter of the H.E.A.R. nonprofit foundation which has helped to strengthen our outreach in our music community and around the world on the importance of Tinnitus and Hearing Loss Prevention .

We all love Les Paul for his development of sound on sound recording, his innovation of the electric guitar and his passion and support of those suffering with Tinnitus and Hearing Loss that he personally suffered. His Les Paul foundation has been a guiding light for our H.E.A.R. Foundation work.

It is with much sadness that I just received word that Dr. Jerry Goldstein passed away.

It was so wonderful to have known Jerry and to have the honor of having such an esteemed member and it’s VP Emeritus of the American Academy Head and Neck Surgery working with us on our H.E.A.R. Board of Directors for so many years.

Jerry was an incredible force for good.

Peck v United Artist was the first American Disibility Act Case that brought about wheelchair access and assistive listening devices in movie theaters and other public places like courtrooms etc. ....
when we first began people had the same fears but it was a very smooth change even for smaller venues
making a huge difference in the lives and rights of hearing impaired people and disabled folks. Now it’s common place and the law of the land.

HEAR Hearing Education and Awarenes for Rockers has been working with the San Francisco Symphony, SF Opera Orchestra and SF Ballett Orchestra, music and sound arts students, touring artist and local musicians,sound engineers, staff and audience members and anyone else needing help with their hearing for over 31 years! And we have seen a huge difference in hearing and yes musicians wear custom musicians earplugs and IEMs with good results protecting their hearing.

Next month, the Royal Opera House is appealing against a landmark ruling in which a viola player was compensated for irreparable hearing damage. Medical and legal experts tell Tim Bano about the details of the case and explain why it could have a devastating effect on opera and musical theatre
