❤️👂 February is American Heart Month — Let’s Talk About Your Heart & Your Hearing! 👂❤️
At Hearing Science of Stonestown, we believe hearing care is whole-person care. And during American Heart Month, it’s the perfect time to highlight an important connection: your cardiovascular health and your hearing health are closely linked.
🫀 The inner ear depends on a strong, healthy blood supply. Because it contains tiny, delicate blood vessels, it can be sensitive to changes in circulation caused by high blood pressure, heart disease, and other cardiovascular conditions.
📊 Research continues to support this connection:
• A large population study published in Scientific Reports found that individuals with cardiovascular disease risk factors — including high blood pressure, diabetes, and smoking — were significantly more likely to have hearing loss.

• A recent systematic review and meta-analysis published in PubMed-indexed research concluded that hearing loss and cardiovascular disease are associated more often than would occur by chance alone, suggesting shared vascular mechanisms.

What does this mean for you?
✔ If you have heart disease, high blood pressure, or diabetes, regular hearing evaluations are especially important.
✔ Changes in hearing can sometimes be an early sign that something vascular may need attention.
✔ Taking care of your heart may also help protect your hearing long term.
This February, we encourage you to think about hearing as part of your overall wellness plan. If it’s been a while since your last hearing check, we’d love to see you.

Our findings suggest that HL and CVD are closely related. Physicians treating patients with HL should be cognizant of this association and view HL in the broader context of general health and aging.
