The team came by the clinic with nice food and great conversation. It was wonderful for East and West to connect with the people who are in this work alongside us. They've been growing and expanding too by adding new doctors, including those who specialize in LGBTQ+ fertility. Family looks different for everyone and every path deserves support.

This same week, Denise's in-laws, her second family, showed up at the clinic with flowers to plant outside.

It felt like the week had a theme: Fertility, springtime, and the people who show up to help things grow.

We love this season. And we love being in community with people who are helping families (and all good things) grow.

Happy small business week!
Sixteen-plus years ago, I opened the root & the branch.

My favorite memory of that time is putting our then 6 month old down for naps in Room 5 while my husband and I kept right on working to set up the clinic. That baby is about to turn 17!

Back then, I had no real idea how to run an acupuncture clinic, but I knew with full clarity how I wanted to practice. Through the years this has remained the constant: listen intently, understand deeply, and treat through my heart.

Now, I’m so fortunate to have incredible acupuncturists to join me on this mission. Thank you to Zoë, Frizela, and Jennifer and to Chantel who encourages us all to keep things running smoothly.

Like tending to a living thing, the root & the branch has grown in ways I could not have imagined.

Thank you for being a part of this clinic and letting us into your lives. Whether you've been with us for many years, or just started coming in this week.

Welcoming our newest practitioner- Jennifer Kwon Rigney!

Jennifer Kwon Rigney L.A.c, is a licensed acupuncturist, clinical herbalist, and long time San Francisco resident.

She first discovered acupuncture during her pregnancy to support an unmedicated, natural childbirth and continued to rely on TCM for postpartum issues, chronic knee pain, and perimenopausal symptoms.

Jennifer has a holistic, integrative medicine approach to find the root cause of a condition while focusing on patient-centered care. She has a passion for orthopedic pain, sports injuries, reproductive health, stress, insomnia, various internal medicine conditions, and everything in between. She has worked with Olympic and Division 1 student athletes at UC Berkeley, along with working with SF Sheriff’s Women’s Resource Center treating underserved women.

Outside of the clinic, Jennifer enjoys going on adventures with her son, wandering around art museums, farmer’s markets, & all Bay Area sports.

Meet Spleen 6, or Sanyinjiao as it's known in Chinese. We also lovingly call this point "three yin crossing."

Why the name? Because it sits right at the crossing point of three major meridians: the liver, spleen, and kidney. This strategic meeting place is what gives it such incredible power to influence multiple aspects of the body at once, making it a staple for our providers.

This beautiful point helps to nourish yin, support healthy digestion, and calm the mind all at the same time.
