We did it (again!) – and then some! We teamed up again this year with to host the second annual Milk Drive in !

Thank you to everyone who showed up to share the gift of life by participating at this event.

While we are still tallying up the total milk donated, we know our generous donors will help us nourish and protect some of our most vulnerable babies here in San Francisco and across the country. Don’t forget, just two tablespoons of human milk can help a baby in need thrive and just one quarter of an ounce amounts to one feeding in the NICU.

Our donors’ generosity helps ensure every baby has a fighting chance, no matter their start in life. This is what and compassionate care look like in action.

Shout out to our Labor and Delivery team at our hospital for their leadership!

✨Proud moment for !✨
The E*Drive tool, developed in ZSFG’s Emergency Department during the COVID pandemic and expanded through mpox, has transformed equitable and timely patient care and now serves as a model for future response to a public health crisis.

The Acute Care Innovation Center team’s work has been recognized with publication in Annals of Emergency Medicine, one of the field’s top-tier journals.

“E*Drive is a great example of how ZSFG's focus on innovating care delivery can have a tangible positive impact on our community. Our experience building E*Drive has taught us many lessons on innovating care delivery that will continue to help our patients moving forward,” shares Dr. Christopher Peabody, ZSFG’s Associate Chief Medical Officer of Performance Excellence.

Last week, we proudly celebrated the culmination of our summer internships with the Black 2 San Francisco cohort at the UC Law Auditorium!

Through a new partnership with Black2SanFrancisco, a program of the SF Human Rights Commission, the DPH Office of Equity placed students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) across the ZSFG campus for six-week paid internships.

Thank you to these future health equity champions—we’re grateful for your energy, insight, and passion!

ZSFG Emergency Medicine teams are out in the community—caring for San Franciscans at some of the City’s biggest public events this summer.

From Bay to Breakers to SF Pride, our clinicians provided expert, compassionate care for hundreds of attendees—treating everything from sprains to allergic reactions.

In partnership with UCSF Health, they also staff the First Aid tent at San Francisco Giants games and concerts at Oracle Park.

On-site care means faster treatment, less strain on ERs, and a safer city for all.

🎉 Big news! ZSFG has been named the 2025 NICU of the Year and a finalist for the Hospital of the Year – Lactation Impact Award by California Breastfeeding Coalition! 💜

As SF’s first hospital, we’re proud to be a national leader in equity-focused, evidence-based lactation care. Our NICU champions breast/chest feeding as essential to infant health and parent-infant bonding—offering exceptional clinical care while advancing for all families, no matter their situation.

With exclusive breast/chestfeeding rates far above the state average, our culturally responsive programs support families facing housing insecurity, trauma, and systemic barriers. From Black Centering programs to our donor milk program and NICU initiatives, we’re showing what it means to lead with both heart and impact.

👏 Huge congratulations to our incredible team of nurses, lactation consultants, occupational therapists, dietitians, medical social workers, and providers for their commitment to equity, compassion, and quality care.

Thank you Becker's Hospital Review for recognizing Dr. Susan Ehrlich, as one of the women hospital CEOs to know!

We are inspired by her leadership in public health policy and in providing compassionate care to diverse patients and staff at the City’s safety-net hospital and only Level 1 trauma center.
