🏋️ REPS vs SETS —what’s the difference?

Confused about reps and sets? Here's the defintition:

➡️ Sets = how many times you repeat the repetitions
➡️ Reps = repetitions of exercise

For example, 10 reps x 3 sets
Try out this structure on some of our Exercises for Dancers:

⭐ Copenhagen Plank
⭐ Arnold Press in Kneeling

🌈✨ Happy Pride Month 2025! ✨🌈

Our personal favorite pronunciation for LGBTQIA is La-bit-a-qua! Is that correct? We heard a drag queen say it once so we think it is. At SF Performing Arts PT, we strive to be fabulous and celebrate this community in all its glory. This includes us, our patients, team members and the performers we serve. We celebrate PRIDE Month every month of the year!

We’re proud to be a q***r owned business that is based in a city with a rich history of fighting for LGTQIA+ rights.

San Francisco is known for its political activism, particularly within the q***r community, with icons such as Harvey Milk, George Choy, and Christine Jorgensen. But did you know that the first le***an rights organization started here as well? Del Martin and Phyllis Lyon started The Daughters of Bilitis in 1955 and later created the first nationally distributed le***an magazine called “Ladder”.

We encourage you to spend the rest of the month (and the year) furthering your knowledge on LGBTQIA+ history.

As you may already know, on March 2nd, 2025, the federal government canceled National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grants already awarded to arts organizations across the nation. Obviously, this has negatively impacted artists as they move forward without promised funding. This affects school and veterans' arts programs, theaters, dance companies, music institutions, theater companies, and arts education of all kinds.

The SF Performing Arts Physical Therapy stands with artists. This is a deliberate attack on free expression.

In the last slide, we have a QR code to a form that can be used to contact your representatives and tell them that you support free expression in the arts.

🚫 Myth Busted! 🚫

Foot stretchers might appear to be a shortcut to better arches, but they can potentially lead to over-stretched ligaments.

Instead, focus on stretching and strengthening the muscles and tendons in your feet rather than ligaments 💪👣

For Thank a Dance Teacher Day, we want to share our gratitude to our Pointe Safe certified teachers and to all dance educators 🤲❤️☺️

Dance teachers are more than instructors; they are mentors, inspirations, and guides who shape the future of aspiring dancers. Dance teachers cultivate safe environments for students to thrive in, and all dancers know the impact a good dance teacher can have on their lives.

We encourage you to take a moment to thank one of your dance teachers who has made a positive impact on your life and dance journey. Whether it's a word of gratitude or a heartfelt gesture, let them know how much they mean to you!

🚫Myth Busted! 🚫

Oversplits might seem like the secret to higher développés, but the real key lies in strength and control.

Instead of pushing for extreme flexibility, focus on building the deep core (and psoas) which support your extensions. Strong, stable movement will take you further—without unnecessary strain! 💪✨

Want to train smarter? Keep an eye out for our développé builder exercise 👀
