Please help us welcome Tierra to the team!

Tierra Has traveled the world since she was born but has spent most of her years between SF and Hawaii. Her passion for animals started at a very young age as she would try to save trapped mice and feed and nurture the wounded feral kittens of her old neighborhood. After moving to Hawaii and volunteering at the Hawaiian Humane Society she made it her goal to become the best advocate for animals. Super nervous she pursued her career at Carrington College, graduated and passed her VTNE, and is now an RVT! Tierra is super excited to provide the best care for our patients!

We are excited to announce that we are partnering with Dr. Dean Filipowicz to expand our in-house orthopedic surgical services! If your pet needs an orthopedic procedure like fracture repair, tendon and ligament repair or joint replacement, your primary doctor will consult with him to determine the best course of treatment. The procedure will be performed at Irving Pet Hospital, so your pet (and you) won’t have the added stress of being in an unfamiliar environment.

Cats hide almost everything, especially pain. But if your cat is dealing with osteoarthritis (OA) pain, you’ve probably noticed changes in their everyday behavior. Things like jumping, climbing stairs, and even playing might not be so easy for them.

Now there is Solensia. If your "kitteh" suffers from osteoarthritis pain we can help!

"Serana has been on Solensia for a few months now after being diagnosed with arthritis at just 5 years old. Her hip pain caused her to "bunny hop" up the stairs instead of taking normal steps, and she preferred to watch her brother play instead of partaking herself. I am happy to report that now Serana is enthusiastically joining play time and catching toys multiple feet up in the air with high jumps! She's less afraid to play, meaning she can live happier and healthier -- more like her old self!"

Hi, I’m Frappa, I am a Certified Pet Bereavement Counselor at Irving Pet Hospital. I am very honored to offer my bereavement counseling services to pet owners suffering from the loss of a beloved pet.

I’ve worked as a vet assistant at IPH for more than 4 years, and one of the most important and rewarding experiences for me has been working with clients who were facing the loss of a pet. This is a very intense, difficult, and emotional time, and I have felt so honored to have been there and shared this moment with you. I also noticed that we would share a very special connection, long after that experience, and it’s something that I have cherished and appreciated so much. As such, I was so excited when I was offered the opportunity to study to become a certified Pet Bereavement Counselor. I completed the certificate through the Centre of Excellence, an online training program based in the United Kingdom but recognized worldwide.

The therapy process will be determined by each individual and where you are in your journey. I am here for you, as a compassionate ear to help you through this time and whatever is most difficult to overcome. I will be available for phone conversations, zoom meetings or in-person sessions, and will plan to offer group meetings in the near future. I also have an amazing support system of the city’s finest veterinary doctors at Irving Pet Hospital, if there are medical questions that come up during the healing process.

Stash the Treats!

The candy bowl is for trick-or-treaters, not Scruffy or Fluffy. Several popular Halloween treats are toxic to pets. Chocolate in all forms—especially dark or baking chocolate—can be very dangerous for cats and dogs, and sugar-free candies containing the sugar substitute xylitol can cause serious problems in pets.
