"It is virtuous to refuse to engage in a fight and walk away. Let them win; they need it more than we do."
Strength sometimes means yielding. This teaching is shared in the Chan Handbook II by Master YongHua – Link: https://a.co/d/9fIeifa

Yesterday in our session with Venerable XianPu, we reflected on the meaning of faith in Buddhism and the importance of helping others only when they invite our support. We began by sharing in a safe space, learning proper posture and meditation technique. Then we recited Amitabha’s name to deepen concentration before settling into silence.
If you wish to cultivate better relationships, greater clarity, and more confidence, we warmly invite you to join us every Thursday.

Dharma Glimpse — The Four Immeasurables (Part 2): Joy & Renunciation
Joy uplifts the mind and lightens the heart. When we rejoice in others’ happiness, our presence becomes healing. And when we learn to let go, we release what weighs us down.

We invite you to watch our new Dharma Glimpse and reflect: https://youtu.be/8cnqR_mv6FU?si=gJvcY1HxNXOStdCl

Being respectful is not always easy. Sometimes we feel that certain people are not skilled, not attentive, or not very wise. But the Buddha’s teachings remind us that every person carries Buddha Nature.
When you show respect, you are honoring that deeper nature beyond appearances.
Who is the hardest person for you to respect right now, and what does that reveal about your own practice?

If you would like to go deeper, we invite you to watch the full Short: https://youtube.com/shorts/UfwdMl1vxJc?si=PWowDo9jUdnnmXPq

Every Thursday at 12 pm PST / 9 pm CEST, Venerable XianPu leads a gentle and supportive class where you can arrive just as you are. We begin with conversation, posture guidance, and technique for newcomers, followed by a safe space to share what’s on your mind.
We then recite Amitabha’s name to deepen concentration before settling into silent meditation.
A simple practice that can strengthen your relationships and help you feel more confident in daily life.

"We devote our lives to accumulating material things or chasing after externals. We simply never have enough. Isn’t that self-torment?"
Chasing endlessly, we forget peace. These words invite us to reconsider, and can be found in the Chan Handbook II by Master YongHua – Link: https://a.co/d/9fIeifa

At the Gold Forest Chan Meditation Center, this Thanksgiving we shared something simple and full of warmth: a community meal —a potluck where everyone brought a dish prepared with care.
There were flavors from Italy, Spain, the U.S., and many other places… yet the most meaningful part was being together.

We talked, we laughed, and we remembered that gratitude grows through the small gestures of daily life — through offering, receiving, and supporting one another.

May we continue building a community where each gathering becomes an opportunity to care for one another.
What are you feeling grateful for today?

In Mahayana Buddhism, kindness and compassion are not ideas but living practices. Kindness means offering joy without measure. Compassion means sharing another being’s pain, even when it touches us directly.

In this Dharma Glimpse – https://youtu.be/TNKRpViSqdY?si=DWRB0YXKK0vRMQOD , we explore these two qualities that can gently reshape the way we relate to the world.

🌱 How do you practice kindness or compassion in your daily life?

We often look outward—at others’ mistakes, anger, or shortcomings.
But true practice begins when we observe our own affliction.
That is what it means to look within.
That is cultivation.
