We’re thrilled to celebrate the second year of our partnership with SkyStar Ferris Wheel at Fisherman’s Wharf! Through SkyStar’s Community Benefit Program, which provides complimentary tickets to local organizations, like OTTP-NorCal, our youth clients have the chance to experience the thrill and joy of riding the SkyStar Wheel.

Thanks to SkyStar’s generous donation of 50 tickets, our youth can benefit from experiences that promote confidence, mindfulness, motivation, and social connection—all while enjoying a fun day out.

We are deeply grateful to the SkyStar team for their continued support, and we thank all our supporters for helping us create special moments for the youth we serve.

On August 7, our team gathered at Sports Basement for OTTP-NorCal’s annual All-Staff Meeting! Guided by the theme “Rooted in Impact, Growing Toward Possibility,” we reflected on our values, celebrated successes, and shared powerful stories that highlight the resilience of the youth and families we serve.

As therapists, we often focus on the experiences of those we support—but it’s important to check in with ourselves too. Taking time to reflect on our own feelings during closure is not only okay, it’s healthy. Honoring the journey and the growth you’ve witnessed can help you acknowledge the meaningful work shared.

How do you take time to reflect and process at the end of a therapeutic relationship?

“How do you explain OT to someone who doesn’t know anything about it?”

Jo Kweon, OTR/L, Occupational Therapist, explains it as the following:

“Mental health OT is all about helping people do the things that they want to do…In mental health, the things that occupy our time really impact our identities and like how we see the world and what we believe in ourselves.”

Stay tuned for more responses from clinicians at the start of each month!

As therapists, we often focus on how our clients feel at the end of services 💙—but what about us? Taking time to reflect on our own feelings during closure is not only okay, it’s healthy. 🌱 Acknowledging the impact of saying goodbye can help us honor the connection and the work we’ve shared.

✨ How do you take time to reflect and honor a client after services end?

Did you know nearly 80% of students who receive mental health care receive that support at school? (-CDC)

That is why funding for school-based programs is so critical. These services are often the first line of support for youth struggling with anxiety, depression, and other challenges.

At OTTP-NorCal, we see every day how access to school-based support changes lives. Without it, too many students would go without care.

Please sign our petition to help restore $1billion in funding for school mental health programs: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/protect-students-restore-1-b-in-school-mental-health-funding/

Occupational Therapy Goals

Progress doesn’t always look big or fast—and that’s okay.
In OT, we believe small steps lead to big changes.

💬 We start by asking: What matters to you?
🛠️ We remove barriers and adapt environments.
⏳ We move at a pace that fits you.
🎯 We focus on short-term goals that build lifelong skills.

Let’s reframe what “progress” really looks like.

This week, the OTTP-NorCal team gathered for a Monday night dinner at Proposition Chicken, enjoying each other’s company while supporting youth mental health.

Proposition Chicken in Laurel Village has partnered with OTTP-NorCal this August for Non-Profit Mondays! Dine-in on Mondays in August and Prop Chicken will donate 10% of sales to our organization. The proceeds will directly benefit the youth in our group programs, like the Juvenile Justice Center, during the upcoming holiday season!
