Experts in how muscles react to strain and stress and how to keep one’s body performing at its best, our knowledgeable, experienced therapists custom design each session to meet your individual needs. Psoas Massage + Bodywork is San Francisco’s premier massage therapy clinic, consistently voted the No. 1 place for massage in the San Francisco Bay Area. Psoas (so-as) was founded in 2003 by Jennifer Lightstone and Scott Schwartz, two seasoned and talented bodyworkers who shared a vision for a different kind of massage company. Not as a spa but as a serious clinic, where clients could come to get healthier, feel better in their bodies, become better athletes, and address injuries that other methods could not seem to touch. Born from a desire to aid athletes and people in pain, Psoas also partners with traditional and alternative healthcare professionals to provide holistic and integrated care. Psoas maintains the highest standards in massage therapy, requiring therapists to have over 700 hours of education, a state license for practicing, and a minimum of 500 hours of client experience. Most of their therapists far exceed these requirements, with extensive clinical experience and thousands of practice hours on their resumes. Psoas continues to be therapist-owned and operated, ensuring that their business goals are centered on providing the most knowledgeable massage therapy available. At the heart of Psoas is a core philosophy that guides all their work—and sharply distinguishes them from other massage establishments. That philosophy is simply this: they believe that massage and bodywork are powerful tools for creating health and wellness in the body—and with expertise, one can quickly help people achieve a level of comfort and ease of movement that they might not experience otherwise. Based on this philosophy, Psoas provides a new and different approach to bodywork that their clients find both vital and refreshing. "Psoas Massage and Bodywork in San Francisco is the Holy Grail of therapeutic massage. Once you visit, you'll never feel the same about another massage studio." -City Sports Magazine

You body needs connection now more than ever! When our work days get longer, the time we have to self care is shorter and sometimes non existant. When you rewire your brain for body awareness, this is when you actually can prioritize a healthy movement, supported by every muscle in your body and avoid muscle compensating for each other when one is failing to activate due to over or underuse.

Take the road of collaboration to healing.
The human body IS high maintenance and sometimes needs all hands on deck to maintain a pain free life. A combination of body awareness, healthy posture/movement practices, and bodywork ( self paced or not ), can help release old injury patterns and retrain your body to function better. The initial phase of healing might be taxing, but in time, maintenance will become an easy part of your daily routine.

Check out our youtube library for self paced stretches and self massage tools.

How KT Tape Helps Posture 👇🏼

KT tape isn’t just for athletes — it’s a simple tool to support alignment.

Light Support: Lifts skin slightly to ease muscle strain without restricting movement.

Body Awareness: Provides gentle feedback when you slouch, reminding you to realign.

Muscle Balance: Encourages weak muscles to activate and eases tension in overworked ones.

Recovery Boost: Improves circulation and reduces fatigue from long hours of poor posture.
