TOMORROW! Friday 11/01 5:30-7p on Valencia/24th St — Join me for a Vinyasa, Yin, and Kirtan Class with Live Drumming!

Experience a transformative, heart-opening yoga practice that is accessible to everyone! Bhakti flow is a non-sectarian spiritual practice that focuses on the whole being - teaching us to love unabashedly, unapologetically and unconditionally. Without harm to Self or Other. To rebalance the energy centers which allow us to love clearly, we will practice a vinyasa and yin asana (physical postural practice), pranayama (breathwork), and nada (voice/sound practice) yoga. Rowena will share historical and modern context of bhakti and lead the class through call & response (kirtan) chants — including their meanings — accompanied by voice, djembe, and tambourine. Hari bol! You are welcome to just listen or join in anytime. Come as you are, or bring a friend to kick off the weekend.

Rowena leverages her experience as an MIT-trained biomedical scientist and engineer, a decade-long yoga teacher, and a patient of physical therapy to relate the 8-limbed practice of yoga to modern daily life. www.rowenamittalyoga.com

Born into a family of physical therapists, Gregory brings years of experience as a therapist in myofascial release as developed by John F. Barnes to share how we work with the innate mind-body system to promote relief and support healing. www.gregoryharty.com

Myofascial release is a type of manual therapy that employs long, sustained holds, releasing constrictions in the fascia – an uninterrupted network of connective tissue that winds and wraps around every structure throughout the body. Yoga asana, or physical posture practice, is one of the eight limbs of yoga that helps us achieve ease and comfort in our bodies so that our minds can stay clear and focused.

Pls feel free to share. Questions? Send a DM or email hello@rowenamittalyoga.com

Yoga for Your Fertility Journey
THIS SAT. Sept. 7th 1-3p
at Yoga Flow SF Noe

Did you know daily heated, vigorous exercise has been found to negatively affect fertility in men and women? And that in some people, treatment side effects make it difficult to perform strenuous tasks?

After multiple rounds of egg retrieval procedures and nowhere but home to continue my safe, 8-limbed yoga practice to nurture my fertility, my mission has been to create a space we can go during natural preconception or before, during, and after treatment with shared experiences and needs.

While I’m grateful for support from my clinic, TCM doctor and acupuncturist, and therapist, I needed more weekly in-person support during an isolating time -- a sangha -- where I could sit in community on the path. I hear the same unmet need from my students, friends, and colleagues.

And thus, Yoga for Fertility Care was born.

THIS SUNDAY July 28th 1-3pm join me for a bhakti yoga workshop on sliding scale Lotusland Yoga SF !

Do you feel stuck in the preparatory yoga asana (posture) practice, wondering what it leads to next? Have you been having a hard time finding your voice again or connecting with others after the pandemic? Have you always wondered why/what we chant in yoga classes? Do you find heart-opening practice challenging or scary? Or, are you already a bhakta and want to immerse yourself in sangha?

This workshop is for you! I will share the definition, history, and practices of bhakti yoga, the path of devotion and love, that allows us to find equanimity and fulfillment off the mat. I will guide us through two of the practices. First, we'll practice heart opening asanas. I'll give you step-wise process for easeful and safe back-bending. Then, once our prana is flowing freely we'll practice nada or mantra yoga, the path of sound, that allows us to find our voice, connect with others right next to us, and even feel closeness with source.

I look forward to seeing you there, link in bio to sign up!

Since you asked for EVENING classes, thought I’d share that I’m offering extra classes this week! Links in bio to signup.

Last month we explored the hips for . June’s physical focus (as a tool for self-study) will be the core for Marina. As you may know, I don’t offer ab crunches in my classes bc they aren’t good for me (chronic hypertonicity) and I suspect they aren’t good for others. Rather, I cue the core (front, back, sides) as they show up in asanas, leveraging mind-body awareness to activate our inner strength and balance effort with release. This practice helps us serve others off the mat with more energy and ease.

Join and I TOMORROW Sat. Apr. 20th 1-3p Noe (24th/Noe St) to gain yoga and myofascial release (MFR) skills to regularly maintain function and comfort of this “ground zero” area of your body.

Link in Bio to signup! YFSF members get 15% off and you can use

- Learn basic anatomy of the region
- Practice and experience MFR through partner work
- Practice and receive a yoga sequence for self-maintenance of the hips and pelvis

No prerequisites, all levels of experience are welcome. You can come as you are or with a friend (friend must also register). Wear comfy clothes you can move in, bring a mat, water bottle, and if you wish, a writing utensil and journal for notes. We hope you’ll join us!

Myofascial release is a type of manual therapy that employs long, sustained holds, releasing constrictions in the fascia–an uninterrupted network of connective tissue that winds and wraps around every structure throughout the body. In this workshop series, we will review basic anatomy of the region as it relates to common pains and compensation patterns. We’ll partner up to practice MFR techniques and experience release of the fascial system for ourselves.

Yoga asana, or physical posture practice, is one of the eight limbs of yoga that helps us achieve ease and comfort in our bodies so that our minds can stay clear and focused. In this workshop series, we’ll learn yoga poses that increase mobility, strengthen muscles, and release fascia in the body. We will practice ergonomic transitions that work with rather than against our anatomy. Walk away with a yoga sequence that you can add to your routine for self-maintenance of the body.

The hips and pelvis are a bellwether for imbalances and compensation patterns in the rest of the body. Exaggerated tilt and rotation in this area has ripple effects up into the cranium and down to the toes. From this workshop series you may learn how to manage back pain, alleviate pain from working at a desk or computer, manage hip pain, low back strain, bulging or slipped disc, piriformis syndrome; foster hip mobility, improve ergonomics and posture, alleviate sciatic pain, and relieve embodied stress.

This March, student requested adho mukha vrkasana (handstand) for our monthly focus. Let’s build handstands from the ground up and from the inside out!

Since it’s a path, there are stepping stones, and all are welcome to stay on any stones offered for as long as they’d like along the way.
