Wait... is that a metopic suture?! (In an Adult!)
In the adult skull, the metopic suture (which divides the frontal bone) is typically fused by age 2.
Having performed several thousand cases, I thought I’d seen it all, but I can honestly say I've never encountered a persistent complete metopic suture like this in an adult patient. This is an anatomical finding of extreme rarity!
It reminds you that anatomy textbooks are just guidelines and the human body always has surprises in store. A truly fascinating case.
