Everyone in LA County benefits when we care for our older adults.
More than 150,000 older adults across LA County rely on In-Home Supportive Services to safely age in place. But there’s a growing gap between the number of caregivers needed and those available, especially in low-income communities, among older adults in subsidized housing, or those transitioning out of homelessness.
That’s why and are launching a groundbreaking program aimed at building a skilled and compassionate workforce that not only delivers essential care but also strengthens the fabric of the entire region.
This partnership isn’t just about supporting individuals; it’s about creating a stronger and more connected LA County where aging with dignity is a reality for all.

Food for thought: no matter your age, good nutrition is essential 🥗
Recently, Homebridge Senior Director of Growth & Innovation Bazil Fonseca and Senior Manager of CalAIM Services Amaoge Chuba met with Will Goodness, OnLok Nutrition Services Manager, at Bayview’s Jerrold Commons to discuss health inequities associated with food insecurity among older adults experiencing homelessness.
As part of Mayor Lurie’s ‘Breaking the Cycle’ plan, Jerrold Commons offers wraparound services that support both immediate needs and long-term stability. Our partners at and On Lok PACE are helping clients access ready-to-eat, medically tailored meals — fueling health, nutrition, and care.
Fonseca shares it best: “Nutrition isn’t a luxury; it’s the foundation of dignity, comfort, and independence. Consistent and accessible nutrition is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to keep our clients independent and well at home.”

A few months ago, members of the leadership team at visited Five Keys Schools & Programs Bayshore Navigation Center, a supportive housing center located near Jerrold Commons.
As we continue to evolve our programs and strategies, we are eager to collaborate and exchange ideas with our neighbors and peers. Through these networks and learnings, we can best prioritize our clients' needs as we address the social and systemic challenges affecting San Francisco and beyond.

Today, our CEO, Min Chang, spoke on a powerful panel on ‘Caregiving’ at the , hosted by Kaiser Permanente.
Currently, California faces a projected shortage of 3.2 million direct care workers, which serves as an urgent reminder that we must reimagine how we train, support, and empower our workforce.
At , we strive to center caregiver voices in everything we do - from training to long-term career growth. Today’s discussion with Deputy Director Denise Likar from California Department of Aging, Assistant Clinical Professor and Geriatric Clinic Nurse Specialist Anna Satake from Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing, and Executive Director Kathleen Kelly from Family Caregiver Alliance was a much-needed deep-dive on how we can build a stronger and more sustainable future for our community’s caregivers 💛

We make independent living possible through exceptional home care solutions
Homebridge provides home care and support services in San Francisco county. Our largest program is home care, in which we deliver more than 500,000 hours of home care service to over 1,200 clients annually. We also operate a training program for personal caregivers, and transitional care program for those discharged from hospitals.
Our expertise is in working with clients who are ill, cognitively-impaired or have other issues that make it challenging for them to live independently in their homes. Our innovative, client-centered model of care integrates case management, operations and scheduling support, and caregiver training, and is designed to tailor to the personal, changing and frequently-intensive needs of our clients.
Our home care clients reflect the ethnic and racial diversity of the Bay Area and speak more than 10 languages and dialects. We serve adults across the age spectrum, with approximately 50% of our clients over the age of 65 and 10% over the age of 85.
For our home care program, clients are referred to us by the San Francisco Department of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) In-Home Supportive Services Program. We hire, oversee and manage home care providers for these clients, and we also provide them with case management services.
Importantly, we also view the training of caregivers as an key component of our mission, and strive to provide opportunities for professional development to both our own caregiver employees at the Homebridge and the students that come to our training program. Our training program provides industry-leading training to more than 800 home caregivers each year at our state-of-the-art training facility.
