Established in 1908
Central Drug Store has been operating at the same location in San Francisco for over 100 years. The

business was started in 1908 and has had 5 different owners. Dino Tonelli started working at Central Drug in 1949 after graduating from the pharmacy school at the University of California . He became the owner in 1965 taking over from George Devencenzi. Dino owned and operated Central Drug until his passing in 1991. At that time his wife Elsie Tonelli and son Jerry Tonelli, who followed in his fathers foot steps becoming a pharmacist as well, took over the family business and continue to do so. Elsie Tonelli started working at Central Drug back when she was going to Jefferson High School in 1943. Here she met and eventualy married her husband Dino Tonelli. Not long after getting married they purchased Central Drug Store. Elsie continues working and managing the store even at the ripe young age of 83. All 7 of her children have worked here at one time or another. Her oldest son Jerry still work's at the store as head pharmacist. Central Drug Store Also Recommends
