Invitation to Radical Self-Care
One moment, you’re playing with your kids or enjoying a beautiful day with friends, the next moment, you’re hearing about ugly, ugly things happening in our world. It’s emotional whiplash. It’s disorienting. It’s been going on for too long.
Maybe you’ve felt this in your body, because the body is intelligent - it knows when it does not feel safe. The constant tension. The inability to rest. The feeling of being stuck on high alert. These feelings are normal - it’s your nervous system doing its job.
Radical self-care means setting boundaries with that stress response. It means telling your body: “You can rest now. You’re allowed to feel safe.”
Acupuncture helps you do this on a physiological level. It calms your fight-or-flight response, and helps restore that sense of safety and control you’ve been missing.
This is self-care that creates real change:
• Boundaries with anxiety that’s been running the show
• Permission for your body to finally release chronic tension
• Space for sleep that actually restores you
• Room to feel emotions instead of staying numb
• Capacity to be present instead of constantly bracing
When your body feels balanced and supported, you can hold boundaries that protect your energy. You can say no without guilt. You can choose rest without shame.
And here’s what else becomes possible: you can take meaningful action from a place of strength, not depletion. When your nervous system isn’t in constant survival mode, you have the capacity to show up for what matters - calling your local representatives, organizing in your community, showing up for your neighbors. Compassionate, grounded action requires a nervous system that feels safe enough to engage, not just react.
Radical self-care isn’t indulgent - it’s essential. It’s how you sustain yourself for the long haul, so you can keep showing up with your full humanity intact. Radical self-care is many things, not just acupuncture, and only you know what is truly caring for your own self. Go and do that tonight :)
