✨A hydrosol is steam distilled from medicinal plants or flowers, for the purpose of producing 𝕥𝕙𝕖𝕣𝕒𝕡𝕖𝕦𝕥𝕚𝕔 𝕡𝕝𝕒𝕟𝕥 𝕨𝕒𝕥𝕖𝕣𝕤. They have similar medicinal and energetic properties to their essential oil counterparts yet they are much less concentrated and therefore gentle on the skin. The aroma of hydrosol is lighter and more subtle compared to the aroma exuded by essential oil.

Hydrosols are beneficial for skincare as they help maintain a normal pH balance
essential to support the skin’s 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫, 𝐦𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, and 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚.

A little history of Alchemical Botanica’s home ~ in this painting, done by Amira Dvorah, you may see ‘Spring Wind Dispensary’ on the windows. Our founder, Evelyn Robert, ran the Spring Wind dispensary out of the space, providing a Chinese herbal pharmacy service from 2005 to 2015. The pharmacy was then sold to Fat Turtle Herbs in 2015.

We no longer use the space as a storefront, but it is where we house and prepare our essential oils and blends. If you’re local, you can always order items online and schedule a time to pick up your order in person and see the beautiful space for yourself.

We’ve combined the therapeutic effects of Epsom and Dead Sea salts with the profound & powerful action of Chinese Medicine essential oils to make for a singularly effective soaking experience for both spirit and body.

We’ve formulated two different soaks:

1. Quietude ~ with essential oils to imbue the body, mind and spirit with a calming sense of stillness, beauty and peace.

2. Release & Repair ~ with essential oils to help relax tight or spasmed muscles, release the sinews, ease pain and promote recovery from injury.
