Community update 10/22/25
Good afternoon. We’re hearing reports that immigration enforcement activity may increase in our communities this weekend. We do not yet know if this is accurate, but we encourage everyone to prepare.

What you can do now

Stock up on food, medicines, and other essentials in case you prefer to stay home for a while.
Consider your own risk level when deciding whether to attend events or gatherings.
Save important phone numbers and documents in a safe place or with a trusted person.
Make sure to have an emergency contact:
If you believe you may be at risk of deportation, leave your important documents with a trusted person and let them know to call the Rapid Response Hotline (415-200-1548) if you are detained by immigration.
Please be aware that your loved one will need to provide the following information to the Rapid Response Hotline in order for you to receive immediate legal assistance: Full name, A-number, date of birth, and country of origin.
If you have children, please make preparations in advance and download the Family Preparedness Toolkit, available under the SFILEN Publications section. (https://sfilen.org/publication/)

We’ll share updates over the next few days. If you have questions or need resources, you can call San Francisco Rapid Response (24/7): 415-200-1548.

Secondary Trauma in Clinical Practice
📅 Monday, October 27, 2025
🕘 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (PST)
📍 Live on Zoom (you will receive the registration link from Zoom after payment)

Training Overview
Therapists often carry the weight of the trauma stories they witness. Over time, this exposure can lead to secondary trauma, vicarious trauma, and compassion fatigue, impacting both personal well-being and professional effectiveness.
This interactive, 3-hour workshop is designed specifically for licensed and pre-licensed therapists (LMFT, LCSW, and LPCC) and other helping professionals working with clients navigating traumatic and high-stakes situations.
Through evidence-based frameworks, case examples, and reflective exercises, participants will build practical strategies for resilience and sustainability in their work.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
1. Define and differentiate the secondary trauma spectrum.
2. Identify key signs and symptoms of secondary trauma in self and colleagues.
3. Apply at least three evidence-based self-care practices to support resilience.
4. Develop peer and organizational support strategies to reduce burnout and promote sustainability.
5. Explain ethical and legal responsibilities related to self-care, impairment prevention, and boundary maintenance, in alignment with California law and the CAMFT Code of Ethics.
