How many hours a day do you sit?

8 hours a day at your desk? 2 hours in your car? How many hours do you spend sitting watching TV?

Sitting is bad because it isn’t walking.

Your heart pumps blood around your body.

When you aren’t laying down, gravity helps your heart by pushing blood to your feet.

When you walk, calf contractions on each step force blood back up to your heart.

The problem with sitting (and standing still) is that your calves hardly ever contract, so you end up with blood pooling in your lower legs and feet.

Remote Working can be the absolute best set up, but it can also be the worst if it's not right for you. Having worked remotely for 2+ years, we have a few tips to find out if it's right for you.

1. Are you self-motivated? No boss is watching over your shoulder so with great independence comes great responsibility. Self-motivation is the number one quality to be successful with a remote job. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀
2. How much social interaction do you need? Most people can't handle being in their own bubble all day. Social interaction is totally available working remotely but it's not necessary - so you have to go out and seek it. Go exercise with friends, go to conferences or meetups in your industry. You can also consider a co-working space if you want even more interaction!

3. Find the RIGHT job. This one's super important. You need a ton of self discipline in working remotely, so it's important to find a job that inspires you and that you actually WANT to do.

4. Have realistic expectations. You'll likely end up working from 9-5, so don't go remote for less hours. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀

Working from home is the best!! Except when..

You get distracted. ⠀

You watch tv. 📺⠀

And especially when you *try* to do work in your bed. ⠀

Working from your bed does not do you any favors - in terms of productivity AND mental sanity. ⠀

If you're victim to it, it's important to understand WHY it's not good. ⠀

⚡️It doesn't allow for movement, in fact, it promotes zero movement. Movement = Energy and Energy = Productivity. Without movement, it's difficult to maintain productivity.⠀

⚡️Your posture suffers. ⠀

⚡️It blurs the lines of what a bed should be for - it should be for sleeping and relaxation but you're using it to create energy (be productive). 😴⠀

⚡️The mental association of energy will be hard to forget when you're trying to relax and go to sleep.⠀

⚡️If you're working in bed late, blue light can decrease your quality of deep sleep and REM sleep. And you need that to create good work tomorrow.🔋

INSTEAD of working in bed, create a separate space for productivity. When you step into that space, it should be for work and work alone. Kick it into drive and GOOO! 🚙💨
