USF EMR is an organization with the intention of providing medical attention to the USF community in the case of an emergency. This purpose does not contradict the University’s mission or its Catholic, Jesuit character.

Today we have another special senior spotlight! We are celebrating our EMRS graduate intern Brittney Varela! Brittney is graduating with a Masters in International Studies. After graduation, she plans to travel (when it’s safe to do so), work with a non profit organization that works with empowering the youth and fights inequities in the workplace. She also plans to continue working on her podcast, “She Se Puede!” (which can be found on the podcast app and spotify)! ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“I had a great experience with EMRS, and had the privilege to get to know a lot of bright young people and I can not wait to see what the future holds for all of them! Good luck to all the squad members!” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Brittney, we can’t thank you enough for your hard work and contribution to EMRS! We can’t wait to see what you accomplish post grad! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Today’s senior spotlight is an extra special one because we are celebrating EMT Jodie! In addition to being an amazing squad leader, Jodie has been running the EMRS instagram for the last year. She is such an asset to the EMRS community and we are so beyond grateful to have her! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Jodie is graduating with a major in Kinesiology and a minor in health studies. She plans to work in the city for a year before applying for chiropractor school.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“It has been a pleasure working in EMRS, while this is not how I would have expected senior year to end, I am grateful for the opportunities I have been given while serving the USF community. Reviving social media, getting EMRS to cover NCAA games, and being a squad leader for a semester has been a learning, creative, and leadership opportunity. I consider the squad to be my family and I have met my closest friends in EMRS, and for that, I couldn’t be more thankful. Becoming an EMT was one of the best decisions I ever made.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Jodie, the EMRS community is so thankful to have such a dedicated and hard working squad leader like you! EMRS wouldn’t be the same without you! We can’t wait to see everything you’ll go on to accomplish post grad!👩🏻‍🎓🐰

“I have been in EMRS for the past 1 1/2 years and it has been such a blessing. I am grateful for the clinical experience I've gotten because of it and for the incredible team I worked with. I've learned a lot from it and definitely recommend it to other students interested in medicine.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you for your dedication to EMRS! We’ll miss you, Sriya! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Happy Friday, Dons! Today’s senior spotlight goes out to Gavin! Gavin is graduating this spring with a bachelor of science in nursing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“It’s bittersweet to be finally graduating. It sucks that we have to end our college careers online, but I'm sure it'll be uphill from here! I'm currently praying to all the deities out there that I can find a good job in the Bay Area. Being in EMRS has been a wild ride and I've seen lots of good changes. EMRS has good squad leaders and I'm sure that future EMTs are in good hands. I'm going to miss you all and thanks for being the dope people that you all are!"
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Good luck, Gavin!

We’re starting this week off with Jayden’s senior spotlight! Jayden will be graduating with a bachelor of science in nursing. After graduation, he hopes to work as a nurse and continue working as an emt!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

“EMRS has been one of my highlights in college. Even though the job may be mundane sometimes, it built a strong foundation for my future career through the development of my critical thinking, assessment skills, and much more. In the more exciting times, I have had the opportunity to run codes, provide trauma care, and make lifelong friends along the way (shout out to my boy Sean "Seanbibi" Kirsch and everybody else, you know who you are). I'll forever miss doing bag checks in the stuffy call room, hunting down first aid kits, doing donuts on the gator in Gleason Plaza (KIDDING), and working with all you wonderful EMTs, squad leaders, dispatchers, public safety officers, and administrators of EMRS. I will miss you all!”

We will miss you, Jayden!

Our first senior spotlight goes out to Joy! She will be graduating with a bachelor of science in nursing. She doesn’t have any solid plans after graduation yet, but hopes to work in an ICU as an RN, travel, and just generally enjoy post-grad life :)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Becoming an EMT and joining EMRS has definitely shaped me into the medical professional I always hoped to be and I'm so thankful I had so many opportunities to learn and grow during my time with EMRS. I really consider EMRS as my USF family for the last 2 years and I'm really sad I couldn't finish my senior year with them, but I'll always cherish the experiences and memories I made with the squad!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We are so excited to see what you accomplish, Joy! Wishing you the best of luck!
