Sometimes people try to be supportive but unintentionally cause harm by commenting on appearance or how well someone fits traditional gender roles.

For instance, saying, “You look like a real woman! I never would have known you’re trans,” can be offensive. A better way to express support is: "You look beautiful and confident in your true self."
