Hi and happy Friday! It’s been a minute since I posted here because life has been LIFE-ing! And here we are.

I pulled these two cards for a patient who has been struggling with some very persistent physical pains. She has tried so many interventions and has more on deck, and I so dearly hope she can find some relief.

When I asked her body what was up, it told me that it felt like she had thrown it under the bus! We chatted a bit about what she wants and what she’s accepting in life, and then I pulled these two cards:

Awakening (associated here with Archangel Gabriel) is also known as The Hanged Man in a traditional deck. It signifies…being stuck. Upside down. With no obvious recourse. The call to action usually has to do with seeing things from a new perspective. Perspective—and attitude—is everything! In this case I was also particularly called to the words, “It’s important to be yourself.”

The Eight of Air/Swords signifies feeling trapped or imprisoned when often you have all the resources you need to liberate yourself. In this situation I can see how frustrated and disempowered my patient feels…and also how she is actively choosing relationships and dynamics that betray her authentic sense of who she is and what she wants. And expressing THAT is something that is always in our purview, and always in our favor.

If you made it this far, I invite you to contemplate over the weekend: where are you betraying yourself? What’s the trade-off? What are the real consequences? And is it really worth it?

“I spent all my summers making plans for September. Not any longer. Now I spend the summer remembering the good intentions which vanished. In part because of laziness, in part because of carelessness. What’s wrong with feeling nostalgic? It’s the only distraction for those who’ve no faith in the future. Without rain August is coming to an end, and September isn’t arriving. And I’m so ordinary. But there’s no need to worry. It’s alright, it’s okay.”

This guy again!

I pulled this card on Christmas Eve and connected it to the Wise Men bearing gifts.

I guess it’s not done with me/us yet.

I think of the Hierophant as representing institutions and structured access to knowledge. I also think of the Hierophant as a teacher or religious figure.

I’ve noticed a tendency for folks in the spiritual world to focus more and more on their individual journeys. I don’t necessarily think this is a negative thing, but it does mirror the fragmentation and social distancing that’s been increasing as our reliance on technology rises.

Add to that the post-modern inclination to think of truth as a multiplicity, and we have a Zeitgeist in which everyone gets to have their own journey and their own truth.

With repercussions, of course.

When I see the Hierophant, I see a call to action to align with a lineage, and a teacher who is steeped in that lineage.

Smarter, wiser people than you have studied spirituality, psychology, interpersonal dynamics, and personal growth. Learn from them. And not in a cherry-picking way, but find someone who you respect and really go the distance and depth with them—even if/when you disagree, there’s something for you to learn.

Post-modern new age spirituality rejects religion, for many good reasons, but beware of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Do you have a teacher and/or lineage you trust and follow? What is that like for you? 🤔

The Hierophant: a wise learned man, bearing gifts.

I don’t want to force this…but it’s right there for today.

So here’s your invitation for today: ask, what gifts is Life bringing you right now?

Name them. Receive them. No, really—receive them. Let them change you. Let them change what you can offer everyone around you. Recognize the richness and the generosity.

And thank the wise men/Hierophants, whatever form they come in.

I keep meaning to make these videos for the stupid algorithm. But for today, you have at least one more still. I feel so old-fashioned.

The Seven of Wands! Don’t give up! Hold your ground! Stand up for yourself! Argue your case!

Interesting energy to be welcoming just as many of us are revisiting family-of-origin containers.

Be yourself, but be kind.

Stand up for yourself, but show compassion.

Be persistent, but be reasonable.

Good luck out there. 🎄

The World heralds the end of a cycle.

The end of a chapter, the end of a phase, the end of a journey.

The end of a year.

And TBH the year energetically ends either around the Lunar New Year (midpoints between the upcoming Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox) or at the Equinox itself…

…but I digress.

I love New Year’s Eve for the opportunity to recap what’s transpired in our lives and commit to renewal moving forward.

In the dark space of we can reflect and observe, and feel into the seeds that have been sown deeply within us and may blossom in the coming year—with the right care and conditions, of course.

It’s not a time of action—not a time of planting, or growing, or reaping. It’s a time of listening, noticing, remembering.

So I invite you all to join me for a New Year’s Eve daytime , both in person and online, to recap what has transpired in your World, and set the stage for the coming act.

, 2-4:30pm, join in my Marina office or join us via Zoom. Link in bio!

Your body provides a beautiful and revealing map of your spirit.

It can recount past traumas, reflect current challenges, and portend the destiny awaiting you.

As Caroline Myss says, your biology is your biography.

In my work I act as a guide, helping you decode the map, move through old blockages, and bravely forge new paths.
