Edgewood was honored to welcome more than 230 mothers and daughters from the National Charity League, Inc., Golden Gate Chapter on Sunday, November 2. Guests heard an inspiring presentation on youth mental health from Dr. Lisa Oefinger, Edgewood’s Director of Clinical Training, and several stayed afterward for a guided tour of our campus.

We are deeply grateful to the NCL for their time, curiosity, and commitment to learning more about Edgewood’s mission and for joining us in fostering greater understanding and compassion for youth mental health in our community.

🐾💙 Today on National Dog Day, we celebrate the unconditional love, joy, and comfort that dogs bring into our lives — and especially into the lives of the young people at Edgewood.

Each week, thanks to our wonderful partnership with the SF SPCA, our amazing volunteer, Anne Magill and her incredible dog Zay visit our campus. Together, they bring calm, smiles, and healing moments to children who are navigating big challenges. Zay has a gift for making kids feel seen and cared for, and Anne’s kindness and dedication remind us what true community looks like.

We are deeply grateful for this partnership and for the way Anne and Zay brighten our campus. On this special day, we honor them and all the therapy dogs whose love and resilience help young people feel safe, supported, and never alone. 🐶💛

Happy National Dog Day!

168 Years (Young).

TRANSFORMING LIVES. RESTORING HOPE.

Founded in San Francisco in 1851 as a refuge for orphans of the Gold Rush, Edgewood is the oldest children’s nonprofit in the western U.S. Today, Edgewood operates residentially-based, community-based, and school-based programs throughout San Francisco, San Mateo, and Alameda counties, among others.

Edgewood Center for Children and Families has a bold vision: Success is within the reach of every child. Children deserve a safe place free from abuse and neglect where they can learn and grow.

By taking an individual and family-centered approach, Edgewood is able to help thousands of children, youth, and their families each year who are struggling with mental health challenges, achieve their potential.
