Dorothy Boerste, MFT I specialize in the treatment of childhood sexual abuse, sexual trauma and Domestic Violence. Are you feeling sad, anxious or depressed?

I specialize in the treatment of childhood sexual abuse and sexual trauma. Are you struggling with feelings of self-doubt, inadequacy, poor self-esteem or feeling that you may harm yourself? Do you feel that others feelings are more important than your own? Do your relationships lack the depth, length and intimacy that you desire? Is it difficult to trust yourself and others? Are you not achieving the success both personally and professionally that you want in life? These are just some of the characteristics that survivors of sexual abuse often feel. For many years I have helped people who are struggling with their life issues. By giving them the necessary support in the safety of the therapeutic relationship, I help them get past their self-limiting beliefs, so that they can enjoy the life they so richly deserve. I have a great deal of experience working with the LGBT population and understand the unique challenges that they face, and have helped them live happy and rewarding lives. I offer a free 30 minute consultation either by phone or in person at my office. During this time you will get a good idea if I am a good match for you. Are you or have you been abused? Physical Abuse: Physical maltreatment, injury, or damage to a person. Sexual Abuse: Contacts and interactions between a child under the age of 18 and an adult in which the child is being used for the sexual stimulation of the perpetrator or another person, or coercive, non-consenting sexual acts between adults, especially when one is in a position to have power over the other, such as minister – church member, teacher – student, therapist – client, or employer – employee. Sexual contact between an older child and an younger child can also be abusive if there is a significant disparity in age, development or size. Sexual Harassment: Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature. Psychological Abuse: is also referred to as emotional or mental abuse. It is a form of abuse which is characterized by subjecting or exposing a person to words or behaviors that result in psychological trauma. Such abuse is often associated with situations of power imbalance, i.e., bullying, abuse in the work place. Domestic Violence: can be both physical and verbal abuse. Domestic violence and emotional abuse are behaviors used by one person in a relationship in order to control the other. Partners maybe married or not married, heterosexual, gay or le***an, living together, separated or dating.
