Schedule: Full-Time (16–20 direct service hours/week)
🌱 WHO WE ARE

•Creative Vibes Music Therapy is an anti-capitalist, anti-oppressive, and client-centered team committed to offering equitable and liberatory care through music.
•We believe that therapy is inherently political—our relationships, our work, and our presence in systems all carry power. We use that power intentionally to advocate for better conditions for both our clients and ourselves. That means pushing back against injustice, fighting for accessibility, and ensuring that our own labor is respected and valued.
•Our practice is built on shared power, redefining hierarchies. Every therapist has a real voice in the direction of the practice—including financial decisions, policies, and priorities.

🫶 WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We’re hiring a music therapist who is:
•Deeply aligned with anti-capitalist and anti-oppressive values
•Excited by collaboration and being part of a team where your input shapes our direction
•Assertive in their beliefs and excited to speak up, advocate, and grow
•Committed to building authentic, affirming relationships with clients and colleagues
•Looking for long-term growth and ready to be an integral part of a shared vision
•We are especially seeking someone who is energized by collective decision-making, who has ideas and wants to share them, and who sees music therapy as both a healing tool and a form of social justice.

🎁 WHAT WE OFFER

•$1,500-$2,000 sign-on/relocation bonus (dependent on experience)
•$34–$36 per clinical hour, with guaranteed $2/hour raises at 6 months and 1 year

I’m proud to share how we’re building an anti-capitalist music therapy private practice at Creative Vibes Music Therapy. From financial transparency and shared decision-making to sliding scale services and end-of-year profit sharing, we’re actively pushing back against traditional capitalist business models to create something more ethical, inclusive, and sustainable.

I talk about how we prioritize trust, community care, and equity—whether that’s through transparent conversations about money, making sure every voice in our practice is heard, or ensuring our clients can access therapy regardless of income.

We also dive into how we’re addressing burnout, fostering a culture of rest, and cultivating a workplace that supports both therapists and clients in feeling seen, heard, and valued.

This is ongoing work, and we’re not perfect—but we’re committed to aligning our business practices with our values every step of the way.

What are some ways you've like to incorporate anti-capitalist/anti-oppressive values into your practice?

PS-Shoutout to The Self-Care Institute for their inspiring work in burnout and stress management with music therapists. Go check them out!

What's the difference between a music therapist, a music teacher, and a musician? Chances are if you're a music therapist, you've been asked this question at least once (if not 100 times!) during your career. The beauty of music is that it is inherently therapeutic, even without intentionally setting goals. However, a music therapist can maximize all the benefits music provides. I’ve been in each of these roles at some point in my life and, in my opinion, the biggest difference between all of them is the PURPOSE and INTENTION behind the use of music.
