Mission: Sisterhood Community Wellness is a women-led community that acts as a central hub of learning and connection in an inclusive, multigenerational, multicultural and sustainable environment where we celebrate our diversity. We will dissolve social barriers by fostering connection and empowering people to create positive change through teaching and learning from each other. We are currently working to build a virtual space of community connection online and hope to expand to a physical space in our town that will then act as a prototype for other communities to build similar centers.
Our Vision: The community wellness center will partner with qualified practitioners, instructors and guest speakers to provide classes and services on a sliding scale. 1. Building autonomy: Woodshop and repair classes, teaching kitchen, a learning center with a lending library, space for guest speaker presentations and courses and a shop where we can feature products made by local women 2. Social connection: Tearoom, book clubs, cultural celebrations, weekly and monthly gatherings, and encouraging interest-based clubs. 3. Environmental protection: We build connection through the earth with our community garden, green practices, and classes. 4. Creative spaces: We will make the world more beautiful by providing art, and writing workshops and classes as well as places to showcase work 5. Wellness: Dance, yoga, movement, meditation, nutrition, tareatment center for therapies, classes and workshops from guest speakers and teachers 6. Lending closets: We will build lending closets with tools, clothes and books that can be borrowed indefinitely. 7. Occupational assistance: Mentoring programs, life coaching, job application assistance, incubator groups and micro-loans for small businesses 8. Community outreach: Our teaching garden will provide food to anyone in need, we will work with other organizations to give meals to community members in need and will create events twice a year that are open to the general public.
