An EEG (electroencephalogram) is a noninvasive test that records your brain’s electrical activity using electrodes placed on the scalp. After mapping the brainwaves with the EEG we can begin MeRT treatment. MeRT is a personalized, drug-free, and noninvasive brain treatment that can improve conditions like depression, anxiety, PTSD, TBI and even help improve functionality in people with autism.

MeRT treatment has been studied for autism in a few clinical trials, showing about a 30% reduction in some symptoms. While it’s not a cure, many children we work with have shown improvements in communication, attention, rigidity, and anxiety. Outcomes vary, and we never promise specific results, but many families notice meaningful changes in speech and overall engagement after treatment.

Not specific to autism, but many children with autism also have a diagnosis of ADHD. The Wall Street Journal examinates and reiterates that a "cocktail" of drugs is often prescribed for young children without much study into how they all work together. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an important alternative for doctors to explore with patients. Affordability is a barrier, but another barrier is that doctors do not think to prescribe TMS or advocate for their patients. When they do, change happens. We see that with the approval of TMS dropping from 18 to 15 years old. Continued conversations that ask the prudent question, "We already have the child on two or three different classes of medication, before we start a third or fourth, what about TMS?".

A promising, noninvasive treatment for depression is gaining national attention. CNN recently featured SAINT, an advanced form of TMS designed for individuals who haven’t found relief with traditional treatments. 🔗Check the Link in our bio or email us for more information 📧 social@1bpt.com

Many people are still hearing about TMS and MeRT for the first time, even those deeply involved in mental health conversations. Approved in 2008 and available through the VA and Tricare, TMS and MeRT are effective brain-based treatments helping veterans and first responders build healthier habits and see real results.
