Dr. Apgar was a phenomenal physician who created the simple APGAR score that continues to save the lives of millions of babies. Not all medical advancements are devices, medicines or surgical techniques. The most impact can be had from simple interventions discovered and created by practicing physicians who care. The Iyengar Risk Score (IRS) for Orthopaedic Surgery was created by Dr. Iyengar sharing the same vision as Dr. Apgar to augment medical judgement with objective data.
