On January 19, CentraCare Heart & Vascular Center became the first site to commercially implant the PASCAL Precision Valve Repair System with the use of EchoPixel 4D hologram imaging technology to repair a leaky mitral valve without the need for open heart surgery. Long-term data shows this new system, produced by Edwards Lifesciences, can reduce hospitalizations for heart failure and improve symptoms like shortness of breath and swelling of the legs. First in the world to remove a HEART TUMOR without OPEN HEART SURGERY!

During the procedure, the CentraCare Heart & Vascular team used EchoPixel 4D hologram technology to guide them to the tumor bouncing around the heart and an AlphaVac catheter to suction it out -- all within 20 minutes, demonstrating that a minimally invasive approach could achieve the same outcomes as surgery but with reduced risk and recovery time for the patient.

“This is going to change our standard of care in a pretty quantum leap,” said Cardiologist Wade Schmidt, MD. “We now have the experience and the technology to treat a whole different population of patients.”
