The Trauma Center at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center cared for the most trauma patients in California in 2024, providing world-class emergency care to nearly 5,200 people.
Sunnyvale resident Jason Feinsmith was recently treated at the Trauma Center after suffering life-threatening injuries in a mountain-biking accident.
“Everyone there was top of the game, best in class,” Feinsmith said. “And it wasn't just the physical care and the operational excellence that I experienced, but the human care.”

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), a federal organization, has announced the removal of Option 3 from the federally run 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline phone system in alignment with federal direction. Previously, callers could press “3” and were redirected to a designated youth LGBTQIA+ call center, rather than our locally run 988 center.
While Option 3 is no longer available, our County 988 call center continues to answer calls and provide support to the LGBTQIA+ youth and the broader LGBTQIA+ community with the same care given to all callers. All 988 staff members have received comprehensive training to support and effectively serve LGBTQIA+ individuals, including youth.
