This gentleman had colon cancer and underwent a single-incision laparoscopic colon resection performed by me in December 2017. He came in yesterday to have his mediport removed after completing several courses of chemotherapy years ago. He has been cancer-free for over 7 years. Single-incision laparoscopic colon surgery yielded impressive results.

Today, I performed my last single-incision laparoscopic colon resection under the ownership of the Hospital Corporation of America. Regional Medical Center of San Jose will become Santa Clara County Hospital tomorrow. For 28 years, this has been my main hospital. I have performed thousands of surgeries and taught many students, including my two sons and numerous surgeons. We have conducted some of the most cutting-edge work in the field of single-incision laparoscopic and robotic surgeries.
I look forward to tomorrow, embracing a bright future as RMC becomes part of the county health system.

Dr. Huy Nguyen performed surgery on this remarkable gentleman in 2004. He came back today to see him on his 100-year-old birthday.
Dr. Huy Nguyen told him to call him in another 20 years. His response: "Of course"

Advanced Surgical Associates, we warmly welcome the class of 2026 from Kansas City University College of Osteopathic Medicine as they embark on their core clinical rotations in the Bay Area.
