The Launch of the American Association of Credentialed Veterinary Technicians (AACVT)
The veterinary profession is full of passionate, dedicated individuals who strive to improve animal care every day. But for many, finding a community that truly fits and resonates with their personal and professional values can be a challenge. For Beckie and Ryan, two veteran figures in the field, this concern was echoed by numerous credentialed veterinary technicians (CrVTs) when they made the bold decision to step away from the existing national association.
What they discovered was astonishing: many CrVTs felt isolated, disconnected, or overlooked by the established veterinary organizations. The voices of those who shared their concerns were loud and clear—veterinary technicians yearned for a space where they could feel fully recognized and supported, both as individuals and as a professional community.
This collective sentiment became the driving force behind the creation of the American Association of Credentialed Veterinary Technicians (AACVT). Beckie and Ryan, inspired by the overwhelming feedback from their peers, took the steps to launch an organization that would put the needs of credentialed veterinary technicians at the forefront. Their vision was clear: to create a member-driven, mission-focused community that would empower CrVTs in new and meaningful ways.
A New Era for Veterinary Technicians
We are excited to announce that the AACVT is now officially active and ready to move forward with its mission to support, advocate for, and uplift the voices of veterinary technicians across the country. As an independent organization, AACVT is committed to creating a professional community where CrVTs can thrive. At the heart of this initiative are four core pillars:
• Advocacy: Championing the rights, recognition, and advancement of veterinary technicians within the broader veterinary community.
• Leadership Development: Offering resources, mentorship, and training opportunities to help CrVTs grow in their careers and leadership potential.
• Education: Providing continuing education and opportunities for professional development to ensure veterinary technicians are always equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
• Community: Fostering a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative space where members can connect, share experiences, and grow together.
Unlike traditional associations, AACVT’s philosophy is centered on being member-led and mission-focused, with governance authority held exclusively by credentialed veterinary technicians. This structure ensures that the voices of CrVTs are not just heard they are in the driver's seat, shaping the direction of the association and the profession itself.

The Future of AACVT
The launch of AACVT marks the beginning of a new chapter in the veterinary technician community. With a strong foundation built on advocacy, leadership, education, and community, we’re excited to see where this journey will take us. The AACVT is committed to being a true reflection of the needs and desires of its members, ensuring that every credentialed veterinary technician has the resources and support they deserve to excel in their careers.
As we embark on this exciting journey, we invite all CrVTs to join us, get involved, and help shape the future of our profession. Together, we can create a community where everyone truly belongs.

This is a good graphic to share with clients!

Most pet owners expect to spend about $8K on a dog.
In reality, lifetime care can reach $60K.💰

That difference impacts how clients think about emergencies, specialty recommendations, and even routine care. Nearly half of owners say unexpected expenses create financial concern in 2025.

The 2025 Pet Lifetime of Care Study shows the reality gap in expectations and why proactive conversations about cost and planning help clients make informed decisions.
