Getting Settled, USA is a Destination Services & Global Mobility Consulting Company in the heart of Silicon Valley. The Company's founder, Linnea Hickman, is a Bay Area Native, with a Global Mobility career that spans the better of two decades. She has seen the struggles of employees who didn't receive basic relocation benefits to help them get settled. She's watched as those same employees strugg
led to find their footing, in a new location, while diving head first into their new job. She has watched corporate companies with little mobility experience, cut relocation packages with the intent to save money, truly unaware of the impact cutting those benefits will have on the employee they just "invested in." She has developed relationships around the world with successful business partners for whom she has been a grateful mentee and some she has been honored mentor. Some common relocation misconceptions are truly believing that a newly relocated employee can get settled quickly and start their new job without some of the "simplest" of services a company can afford. It is not a co-workers responsibility to help with an apartment search or assist with obtaining a social security number, establishing credit, buying a car, or knowing where their new colleague’s children should go to school. This is the job of a professional, someone who knows the area, someone who has spent their career compassionately holding the hands of Bay Area newcomers to ensure a smooth & successful "landing." Relocating can truly affect job performance, mental health, and the employee's marriage if the proper benefits are not provided.
