The Abdul Miracle Disabled Children's Foundation stands as a voice for children and individuals with disabilities, committed to promoting inclusion, equal rights, and access to opportunities. While the Persons with Disability Act of 2011 was designed to protect and empower this marginalized group, its lack of implementation has left many of our citizens in continued suffering. Inaccessible infrastructure, limited access to education, healthcare, and employment, as well as systemic discrimination, persist in clear violation of the law. These injustices are not just social failings they are illegal and must be addressed urgently.

As a foundation, we are here to complement the government’s efforts, not to compete or criticize. But silence in the face of such ongoing red flags, would be a disservice to the very people we are called to serve. We urge the government to honor the commitments enshrined in the Act by taking concrete, immediate steps to enforce its provisions.

Our children and communities with disabilities deserve more than promises they deserve justice, access, and dignity.
The time to act is now.

International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8. The Day throws the spotlight on women and their rights. Beginning early 1900s, IWD is “a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.”

The theme for 2021 is “Let’s all choose to challenge.” We can all choose to challenge and call out gender bias and inequality. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world. From challenge comes change, so let us all choose to challenge,”

A Happy International Women’s Day 2021 to all our strong & Resilient Women who are selflessly making huge strides in making the world a better place.

Children are one of the most deprived in Society all throughout the World and more so in developing countries of which sierra leone is no exception. They continue to lack their fundamental rights and privileges in various aspect of their daily lives ranging from access to quality education, adequate health care, inclusion, equality of opportunities and more.

Amidst these challenges and more faced by children living with disabilities in sierra leone, Abdul Miracle Disabled Children’s Foundation (A.M.D.C.F) saw the need to empower, capacitate and best address the felt needs of disabled children in Sierra Leone through our programs targeting education, livelihood, Growth & Development and Physosocial support.

As a way of complementing government effort in the educational sector, the foundation as part of its flagship programme which seeks to educate less privilege disabled school going children in sierra leone in the form of school tuition, learning materials etc. on the 23rd January 2021 launched its annual scholarship distribution Program at the Milton Margai School for the blind.

In his Opening Remarks Mr. Victor Alex Stevens Director of Programs AMDCF gave an introductory statement explaining the purpose of the visit at the Milton Margai School for the Blind which has to do with the presentation of Cheques to AMDCF Beneficiaries as support towards their education. He mentioned that in spite of the current trend AMDCF taught it fit to honor its commitment however little so that these kids will actualize their dreams of becoming useful citizens in Sierra Leone.

Mr. Tamba Allieu-kokobaye Board Chairman of Abdul Miracle Disabled Children’s Foundation mentioned that the Scholarship has been an Annual Activity of the Foundation and irrespective of the prevailing circumstances globally, and its negative impact on our Operations, we still consider it particularly important to continue the trend in supporting our Beneficiaries. He encouraged beneficiaries to focus on their studies as that is the much needed requirement needed to continue to gain access to the scholarship annually.

Ms. Francess Olivant AMDCF Liaison Officer mentioned that the past year has been a challenging one and would like you our beneficiaries to know that we have not forgotten you which is why we taught it fit that in spite of the many difficulties, we are here to do this presentation however little it is and hope that this year 2021 will be favorable for us all so that we can improve further on our commitments.

Mr. Turay Principal of the Milton Margai School for the Blind thanked AMDCF for the Gesture towards the Kids at his school. He stated that these children are worth sponsoring as they are doing very well in their academics more so when they are making strides in fulfilling their educational goals and considers it very important that one plays it part especially when you are been sponsored. On behalf of the Kids here, I wish to say thankyou to AMDCF who are always thinking about these children and have always helped them out in their education to pursue their dreams. We clearly understand the current trend and as a school we know nothing is too small which is why we remain grateful for the consideration.

This was followed by the Presentation of Cheques to the Beneficiaries at the Milton Margai School for the Blind and a Group Photo of AMDCF Representatives, Parents & Beneficiaries present at the ceremony.

Subsequent distribution was held between 25th-3oth January 2021 in Waterloo, Grafton, Adonkia, Ogoo Farm Communities, respectively.

Wishing you and your loved ones peace, good health, happiness, and prosperity in the coming year.Merry Christmas.

Abdul Miracle Disabled Children’s Foundation joins the rest of the world to observe the International Day of Persons with Disabilities under the theme “building back better, toward a disability inclusive, accessible and sustainable post Covid-19 world”.
Since 1992, the United Nations has annually Observed December 3 as the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) as the day seeks to promote the full and equal participation of persons with disabilities and to take action for the inclusion of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society and development.
Under normal circumstances, persons with disabilities are less likely to access health care, education, employment and to participate in the community.
The global crisis of COVID-19 has deepening pre-existing inequalities, exposing the extent of exclusion, and highlighting that work on disability inclusion is imperative. People with disabilities are one of the most excluded groups in our society and are among the hardest hit in this crisis in terms of fatalities.
As part of our intervention strategy, Abdul Miracle Disabled Children’s Foundation have been providing Educational, Advocacy and Psychosocial Support for Less Privilege Physically Challenged Children in Sierra Leone through our Flagship School Scholarship Program.
The Foundation recognized the Economic Impact of the Pandemic especially in Third World Countries and as part of our COVID-19 Response render assistance to Less Privilege Disabled Beneficiaries & their Families in Sierra Leone during the Challenging period in the worlds History which was Tagged “Angel Over AMDCF Project”.
As a Foundation working with People with Disability, we believe strongly that an integrated approach is required to ensure that persons with disabilities are not left behind in any process.
We would like to take this opportunity to call for effective collaboration with representative organizations of persons with disabilities, governments, communities, civil society, UN and other international agencies, and the private sector as we collectively strive to build and sustain a better, more inclusive post-COVID society.
As we move to the recovery phase of COVID-19, health, education and other systems will have to be adapted to accommodate the new risks we face. Why not take the opportunity to build them back in a way that is inclusive?
