The idea behind Making Healthy EZ, as a company, was derived from my experiences with my patients. Many of my patients initially believed that living healthy would be difficult within the realm of their busy life. I wanted to create a company that would show my patients, and all of you out there, that living healthy doesn’t have to be hard.

Health Benefits of Ginger

1. Ginger is a natural remedy for upset stomach and morning-sickness. Just take a couple of slices of fresh ginger and throw it some warm water for a ginger tea. It not only tastes good, but helps calm your stomach.*

2. Ginger also works as an anti-inflammatory agent. First cook the ginger and let it cool, then place over a thin cloth to soak over the inflamed area.

3. Fresh ginger may also be effective in lowering the risk of infections.

*Ginger tea should be used with caution for those who suffer with gastritis, dyspepsia, or heart burn, as some people have had noticed an increase in irritation when drinking it.

While you may prefer to peel your fruits and vegetables, you are losing out on many nutrients by doing so. Did you know that both potato and apple skin contain half of their fiber content? The majority of nutrition in carrots and cucumbers are also found in the peel. All you have to do is wash these fruits and vegetables and eat them with the peel on to maximize their health benefits.

For many, losing weight is at the top of the New Year's resolution list. The human body needs certain vitamins and minerals from a variety of foods to operate efficiently and crash diets rarely provide all that it needs, thereby resulting in an unhealthy body and mind, with little to no desired results.

Instead focus on changing to a healthier lifestyle that will improve your body's function, complete with healthy, vitamin-rich foods and exercise. If you treat your body well it will reward you with the results you are after.

Tips to incorporate activity in your daily life:

1. Rather than calling an office colleague, walk to their office. You incorporate a little cardio in your workday and get face-time with a fellow team member, so it's a win-win activity.

2. Try doing some squats or lunges during your morning coffee break. Physical activity can help perk you up just as much as caffeine.

3. Taking the stairs is not only good cardio, but also a great stress reliever.

4. Forming a lunch time walking group is also a great way to incorporate cardio exercise during your work day.

5. Park further away from the door at work. It may not seem like much, but every little bit helps when moving toward a healthier lifestyle.
